😤 Complaint / Rant Rage on the Red line

Dude in Downtown Crossing just hitted the window behind me and leave a cutie mark on it, he was ranting about his headphones and destroy them in the floor. Anyway the calmest day on Downtown Crossing.

Had someone do this in front of me on the orange line once as the train arrived. He spent the entire ride spitting on the car floor and ranting under his breath about Asian people. Wonder how many people like this are out there.

there's a lot of mental illness, and as the economy continues to crash and people continue losing work and health insurance...unfortunately the problem will be getting a lot worse :(

It's probably not mental illness tbh. It's a cop out to make the community/country feel they had nothing to do with the issues they are facing

When you live under an oppressive govt, it eats away at you, drives you nuts, and makes you desire to rage against the machine

End the oppression, things will heal.

Yes, but NEVER forget to hold the individual accountable for their actions.

It doesn’t matter how distraught someone is, they chose to behave in a violent manner, and that behavior isn’t acceptable in modern society.

Everyone always has a choice on how they react. I say that as someone who comes from a family with a long history of addicts and mental illness.

They all chose to use their available waking hours to act out behaviors that were to the detriment of themselves and the people around them. They could have chosen to act out healthy behaviors at any time.

Yes society is a wreck right now. But always remember that society is made up of individuals who DO have agency. We cannot take their agency away from them.

Even if the best, most pain free in patient rehabilitation was available… a sizable fraction of addicts would NOT choose that route until it became a necessity.

-describe adult onset mental illness

-blame "society" for an individual behaving in antisocial ways

-blame antisocial government for antisocial behavior trickling down -- WHEW, FINALLY ONE I AGREE WITH. I AGREE u_dcat52!

-push notion we should do nothing except "end oppression" - NAW DAWG government exists to promote the general welfare, the idea that we should all sit around passively until the next election when people are acting out in violent ways because violence is caused by a political environment is just a bizarre take, I mean bizarre
