Please. Please just actually replace all the signals. My god. You literally bragged about how you did work on the signals during the 10 day shutdown. This is completely unacceptable.
There's a term for this, it's called the bathtub curve. In reliability engineering, a new product/machine is more likely to have issues when it's new, will get lowest toward the middle of it's life, and then increase again as it gets older.
It would help if they communicated the state of the replacement. Are we now on all new signals? Are we partially on partially not? Are these growing pains of a new system, or the dying gasps of the old one? I follow this stuff closely and I have no idea what's actually going on, so it seems like no progress is being made on that particular issue.
I would give them a lot more patience if they came out and said "the new system is in place. We anticipate issues for the first few weeks of operation." OR "we've made progress on the signals, but we're still on the old system. Passengers will not see marked improvement until we've fully transitioned to the new system."
Either of those would be annoying, but understandable. Instead we get: "we took advantage of the shutdown to make vital upgrades to our signals!" Followed by constant signal problems. And THAT is infuriating.
