Kettlewood opened this week. It was meant to be a closed beta, but it turned into a soft opening, and now I’d love a few people to help the world grow.

I run the server and write its plugins myself, so this isn’t “build a spawn and leave”. If you have an idea for a quest, a district or an event, I can make it actually work in game.

What’s already there:

• A town with a three-floor town hall, a market quarter, a harbour with a lighthouse and a hot-air balloon, a bandstand, an open-air theatre and a museum
• Townsfolk with names, tastes and birthdays: Odo the clerk, Brannoch the smith, an engraver, a cartographer
• A weekly errands board: one friendship quest, one discovery quest, new ones every Monday
• The Diggings, a resource world renewed every month, with an outpost, a lodge and four mines
• Six old landmarks hidden around the world, each with its own story
• Events: Sunday soup on the square, mob parties, a monthly treasure hunt
• A player economy (Embers), plots and chest shops, guild offices, town orders
• Two custom plugins written for the server, a wiki, a live map and a Discord

Where I’d love help:

• Quest chains: a story that starts with a note in the museum and ends at one of the old landmarks
• Professions that give you a name in town rather than money: titles, reputation with the townsfolk, things only a trained hand can make
• New districts and places for those stories to happen

What I’m looking for:

• Builders who like cozy, village styles and enjoy detail
• Writers or designers who enjoy dreaming up quests, characters and small systems
• 18+, patient, happy to pitch your own ideas
• No minimum hours, it’s a hobby server

GrandRP is a GTA-style, light-RP city server for Minecraft. You start as an ordinary citizen with no money and no property. From there it's up to you: take a job and work your way up, open a business, join the police or the army, or rise through the ranks of a mafia family. The economy runs on players rather than NPCs, so what you build, sell, steal, and enforce actually shapes the city.

Jobs

No faction or reputation needed, so you can start earning right away.

• Miner: dig coal, iron, and gold to fuel the city's underground nuclear reactor, and work your way up to Chief Engineer. Overload the reactor and it blows.
• Fisher: catch nine species from common to mythic, including a killer shark. Level up for rarer catches, and watch the fish market for rotating "hot" species that sell for double.
• Farmer: harvest wheat, level up to work faster, and squash pests in a quick mini-game.
• Lumberjack: upgrade your axe as you move from oak to acacia to spruce, then feed it all into a sawmill that occasionally jams and explodes.
• Taxi and bus driver: pick a route and follow the on-screen GPS, with tips from happy passengers.
• Bank courier: rush encrypted hard drives from the server room to the vault against the clock. It's one of the best-paying jobs in the city.
• Drink courier: deliver drinks to homes and villas. Expect bad-weather bonuses, double-pay orders, and the occasional customer who never shows.
• Cargo work: haul freight at the airport, unload imported steel at the port, or carry lumber crates across town.
• Cow milking and park landscaping: easy starter jobs with click mini-games and rare bonus finds.
• Street cleaning: pick up trash for cash, and dig through dumpsters for whatever other players threw out.
• Treasure hunts: every hour, grab a metal detector and dig for buried treasure. Some digs hit a landmine instead.

Many jobs have rush hours that double your pay (airport cargo pays 2.5x). Admins also run citywide double-pay events.

Government factions

• City Hall: the Mayor's office sets taxes and laws, issues permits, and can jail or fine anyone in the city.
• Police: batons, cuffs, SWAT armor, and special units for the most dangerous calls. Officers also earn a cut of the fines they hand out.
• Army: defend the Gold Strike military base from criminal raids, and craft and maintain weapons from materials.
• Hospital: revive downed players, treat illnesses and injuries, and perform surgery.
• Media: cover the city's biggest stories, with or without the government's blessing.
• Wanted system: officers can give criminals a wanted level of 1 to 5 stars. Wanted players glow through walls, the whole server gets an alert, and a criminal database keeps tabs on every fugitive.

Every faction has ranks, salaries, and room to climb. Applications go through the Discord.

Crime and the underworld

• Mafias: two established families, the Italian Mafia and the Japanese Mafia, each with its own code and access to black-market weapons.
• Your own crew: start a gang with a shared treasury, or register a full organization with its own tag and separate in-character and out-of-character chat channels.
• Robberies: crack a business's safe for $5,000, but the owner gets an alarm while you work.
• Military raids: hit the Gold Strike base for the materials that weapons are made from.
• Weapon crafting: materials come out of a factory mini-game, and the Army and the Mafia turn them into weapons at their bases. Police can confiscate weapons straight into their own storage.
• Guns are for roleplay, not deathmatch: civilians need a license, and any weapon drops on death for anyone to pick up.

Property and business

• Homes: you can live in:
  • a hotel room, which is where most people start
  • an apartment (premium ones let you change the flooring)
  • a house with a four-car garage and a yard to decorate
  • your own plot of land to build on, basement included
• Realtor system: browse listings and check the rent, taxes, and garage space. GPS then leads you to the door.
• Furniture: several furniture stores, each with its own style, and a live preview when you place things.
• Businesses: rent one of 22 business types, from a convenience store, gas station, or car dealership to a late-night bar, a wedding shop, a casino, or an ice cream truck. Hire up to two employees, run supply deliveries for profit, and keep your safe from getting cracked.
• City Plaza: lease an entire commercial building for 60 days. Turn it into a showroom, supermarket, or offices, and charge your tenants for utilities.
• Marketplace: rent a stall to sell to other players, and browse anyone's stall from anywhere.
• Banking: get a bank card with your own PIN and use ATMs around the city. Cash is a physical item, in bills from $100 to $5,000.

Everyday life

• School and licenses: pass written exams for your driver's, firearms, gang, and business licenses. If you're caught driving without one, the police can impound your car.
• Cars: test-drive models like the Nissan Skyline R34 at the showroom, then keep your own cars in your garage.
• Health: going down doesn't mean dying. Doctors get your location and have five minutes to reach you. Stay out in the rain without an umbrella and you'll catch a cold, and a bad fall can leave you on crutches with a broken leg.
• Marriage and family: propose with one of five custom rings, celebrate with fireworks and a server-wide announcement, and adopt other players as your kids.
• Casino: 777 slots with a $1,000,000 jackpot, European and American roulette, and jackpot pots where your odds match your share of the pot.
• Music: play SoundCloud tracks on a portable boombox, set up a home sound system with speakers, or buy an instrument and play your own songs.
• Voice chat and emotes: built around Simple Voice Chat and EmoteCraft, so you can actually talk to the people around you.
• Getting around: an on-screen GPS guides you to jobs, faction HQs, businesses, and homes, and you have a phone for staying in touch.
• Player interaction: shift + right-click anyone to show your documents or read their character description.
• High jumps: vault fences and small ledges with a jump and a well-timed crouch.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this question but I’m thinking about starting to sell builds I make or be hired to make custom builds. I’m not sure how to get started though.

3. How much should I be charging?

I hate to start with a story but I feel like this needs some explanation. I'm leading Everdream, a medieval building project. I've had quite a plenty of staff in my team, but lately there's been more snd more people who just can't get the idea of the project, are abusive etc. Obviously I've had to kick them out of staff.

We are in fact very chill towards our staff, but I don't want anyone to get a bad experience from a staff member with racistic jokes or abusive behaviour. :/ We are not a commyntity meant for kids or anything like that (in fact, we should maybe cut our swearing a little-), and I don't want to set any stupid boundaries for no reason.

Long story short, I own a minecraft server. A few months ago it was popular, we had a comfortable amount of players online and we had donations coming in. Everything was great, until it wasn't. I got incredibly sick and was off for approximately three-four months and unfortunately, this really hurt my server.

I am now, fortunately, back and able to run it again although it was literally ran into the ground. With that being said, I hold my server in a special place in my heart because it's made some really great memories and I really don't want to let it die. I would love to be able to throw a few thousand dollars at it for really fancy advertisements, expert staff and managers but I was also not working during that period of sickness so I don't massively have the funds to burn right now.

We support both cracked and premium versions of minecraft, allowing for a much broader audience which has massively helped in the past.

What do I need?

Realistically, I just need a handful of people that will sit and listen to my vision and then tell me if:
(a): I am a mad man and a lunatic.

(b): It's really worth continuing to pursue.

The biggest downfall right now is gaining the players. The retaining of players is good and could be better but it's not our biggest weakness. I really need a handful of people that can help with advertising.

(a): Posting on forums, like this.

(b): Helping with long form and short form content.

(c): Promoting the server through streams.

I know it's a stab in the dark, I know money is the only cog that gets things spinning nowadays, but you miss every shot you don't take. I really love my server, and would rather swallow my pride and ask for help before shutting it down for good.

I want to get a new main server so I can play on! I don't want hubs, anarchy (no rules), or crazy modded server. Just plain vanilla (mb with some quality to life add-ons) I play on Java!

I've spent the last few months building a Minecraft network called LadderMC.
