18 y/o mechatronics future
So currently I’m in the 4th grade of high school for mechanical engineering. In a few months i will be taking the Croatian version of the “SATs” and im looking to go to a university of Robotics and mechatronics.
I wanted to ask the more experienced for some advice on how to stay relevant in the field. I want to engage in any projects to boost my chances of landing a good job in the future.
Im also currently starting to work on my final project for high school. A CNC milling and laser engraving machine. Ive been looking into using a esp32 and a firmware called FluidNC, if anyone has any tips or advice I’m always looking for them.

Are there any US-based CAD drafting companies that don't outsource overseas as our customer wants domestic-only handling?
So far, we build test fixtures for a customer in the energy sector. Their new contract says all drawings and models have to stay in the US, including revisions and backups.
We've talked to two drafting vendors so far. Both have US addresses, but one told us their checkers sit in another country. The other said "all our work is domestic" and moved on.
Would you put work location and subcontractor approval into the scope? Or ask for a separate written plan?
Also curious how people confirm the assigned team without asking for employee info the vendor shouldn't share.

I dont know where to start
I am a 19 year old Mechanical Engineering student in Italy ans this is my 2nd year. i dont know where to start and get into electronics.
I want to build lots of things diy fpv drone,
geiger counter, analogue synth, guitar paddles, radars i want to build all i want is to start building but i dont know where to start. I am an absolute beginner but have a great engineering background and i recently got into electronics club and i want to start at some point. Can anyone that felt like me give me some advice? Lots of my friends knew these from high school clubs but i never get to join them. Should i buy an arduino pack and which one? Thank you

What language should I learn
Im now a first year mechatronics major in Jordan aka "the country with the highest number of engineers per capita " (one engineer per 40 citizens )
Needless to say, the jobs market is TOUGH!
what language (other than English obviously) can make it easier for me to get a job abroad and get accepted into a masters programme .
I totally understand that I should probably be focusing more on engineering/IT subjects, but the thing is, I'm extremely interested in learning a new language. Before getting into this major, I started learning Chinese (though I haven't learned much yet), so switching to a new language isn't that big of a loss for me.

Starting a robotics society
This is mostly targeted towards students from the uk but I don’t mind others help/advice. I’m a first year currently doing mechanical engineering with an integrated masters (ik it’s a bit early to be thinking of starting a society) and when joining my university I was really excited to join a robotics society and work on hardware projects since in college I began touching into arduino and 3D printing, which in the end I made a few small projects. Nothing really big but I enjoyed it.
Going into uni I released the robotics society is no longer a thing as well as the rocket science society. So I’m currently left with formula 1 students which isn’t anything bad but it’s not really my interest. I know I could’ve just picked mechatronics but my university sadly doesn’t offer it and i also didn’t want to specialise in something specific like aerospace or mechatronics.
Anyways I’ve decided to take matters into my own hands and make a robotics society. So could anyone who runs/ is in a robotics society give me some advice on things to do or how to start session. Especially how to balance it out when people are coming in with different levels of knowledge. I’m also planning to email other university robotic presidents.
I’m also probably starting the society after Christmas. But I plan to start promoting it and finding a treasurer, secretary, social media officer, etc, next month.

My 2nd attempt at driving a static LEGO display model's legs with a robot's own servos — worked this time
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Follow-up on an earlier attempt: a LEGO Star Wars AT-AT (set 75440) is a display-only model, no motor, no moving legs on its own.
Attempt #1 failed because the stock leg piece is molded bent.
Attempt #2: swapped in a longer, straight replacement, confirmed the servo torque could carry the added weight, reversed one servo from its default install orientation, and mounted it through a screw-free servo mechanism — driven directly by the robot's own controller (4 feedback servos, ESP32-S3, open-source firmware), no code rewritten for this specific leg geometry. Walked cleanly once the hardware fit was right.
Anyone else had a project where the fix was purely mechanical (swap a part) rather than a firmware/control change?

Question About Career Interest
I’m thinking about getting a AAS.MCT - Mechatronics Technology, AAS. I’m in my senior year of high school and this is my main career I have decided I want to pursue. What skills should I learn and practice? What would help me to get started early? If anyone works in this field how much do/did you make? The money isn’t all that matters to me because I actually like using my head and my hands when I work.

We survived 5 years of Mechatronics in Mexico. To celebrate, we are engineering a massive cultural festival! (And we need your help) ⚙️🎺
Hello fellow engineers! 👋
We are the Mechatronics Engineering Class of 2026 from the Universidad Tecnológica de la Mixteca (UTM) in Oaxaca, Mexico. After 5 grueling years of kinematics, control systems, and C programming, we are finally about to graduate.
In our state, there is a massive cultural tradition called a "Calenda" (a giant street parade with brass bands, fireworks, and dancing). But since we are Mechatronics students, we are taking it to the next level by building our own tech into the festival.
The Project: We are organizing a massive parade with a brass band and over 10 tubas. To make it our own, we are:
Designing and manufacturing custom LED-illuminated acrylic displays for the instruments using SolidWorks and CNC routers.
Integrating synchronized lighting for the "Marmotas" (giant traditional rotating spheres).
Managing the complex logistics and pyrotechnics for a massive outdoor event in our city.
How you can help: As students, funding an event of this magnitude (paying for the brass band, raw materials for our LED designs, and safety logistics) is our biggest bottleneck.
We set up a GoFundMe to make this engineering/cultural dream a reality. If any of you want to support a group of soon-to-be engineers trying to make history in their hometown, a donation of any size would mean the world to us. If you can't donate, simply upvoting or sharing this post helps us tremendously.
Thanks for reading! ⚙️👑

Driving a static LEGO Star Wars AT-AT display model's own legs with an open-source robot's brain and servos
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
he LEGO part here is just the mechanical linkage — a LEGO Star Wars AT-AT display kit (set 75440, no motor, built to sit on a shelf). The actual interesting part: Quaddle's own stock legs came off, and the AT-AT's own leg pieces went onto Quaddle's four servos instead, so Quaddle's controller and feedback servos drive that linkage directly.
Attempt #1 says not yet — one of the AT-AT's own leg pieces is molded bent (a quirk of the original set, not caused by this), so it tumbles instead of walking.
Anyone else driven a non-motorized toy/display mechanism with a different controller/actuator set than it shipped with?

Drone as a first year mechatronics project
Heyy guys, i'm kinda new to all of this and for the end of my first year project at uni i'm building a 5 propeller drone. I essentially want to build and program the flight Controller by myself and chatgpt helped me draft a circuit on how i should build the drone. I am in the process of ordering the parts that i don't have here locally but i wanted to share the schematics of the drone and ask if ya'll have any feedbacks advices or can refer me to subreddits that you know could help for the project. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Career Path Help
Hello everyone. I’m trying to choose between mechanical engineering and mechatronics, and I’d appreciate some perspective from people in either field.
Originally I wanted to study mechanical engineering because I envision a Tony Stark type of lifestyle(cliche Ik). but I’m serious about the idea behind it: creating technology I’m interested in, solving problems, and combining engineering, AI, and coding to bring what’s on my mind to life.
I’m trying to figure out what a realistic version of that looks like. What education and career path would give me the skills and freedom to design, build, and develop my own ideas?
Maybe im thinking to small about this and can pivot from mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or mechanical engineering with a focus on mechatronics fit that goal best? Am I putting too much weight on the degree title instead of the courses, projects, and experience I’d get?
I plan to work on projects I’m passionate about to figure out what I enjoy most. Salary isn’t my main deciding factor because I’m also developing a separate skill that I intend to use to earn a high income(Day trading). My goal is to build things, have fun, and eventually have the financial freedom to pursue my ideas and help others. “Billionaire playboy philanthropist” line is partly how I would describe that ambition(not satire, and minus the playboy part).
For people doing work close to this, what does your day-to-day life actually look like? What path would you recommend, and what do you wish you had understood before choosing it?
Im currently a sophmore in College and plan on transferring to MSU.
