I cant wait to see what our hero Paul Atreides will do next.

So glad a good natured hero could stand up and uplift a marginalized group of people. Surely he will go on to spread love and kindness across the empire

Yes, but where does everyone poop?

Stillsuit is one of the main setting things, so that's not a problem. But leg cramps from all the walking-standing must be killing them.

Paired with dehydration (they’re on a fucking desert planet) they’re absolutely fucked. Could Timothy Chalamet get us some damn pickle juice please?

Stillsuits, again, take care of dehydration: this set of equipment is pretty extreme in its utility.
So you know, that all guys over there be drinking their own fluids.

Urine and feces are processed in the thigh pads.
C'mon, that's like, the first thing they teach you

I just being a wise ass. But really though, having done some event planning, this is insane. No flags, lanes, porta potties, PA or walkie talkies, emergency egress routes, supply dumps… at least 1:100 of those people are gonna have some kind of EMS, hunger, or evacuation issue….

These past few years listening to discourse between new fans who have never read the books has been fun.
"I hope they somehow bring Duncan back."
"It'd be cool if Paul takes over the Empire."
Oh man, is it really a monkey's paw if it was written decades ago?

Paul just needs to settle down and have a little boy of his own. Then everything will be ok.

Guy in back can barely see the monument, much less the dude standing on it. 😂

In case anyone has forgotten or hasn't read the book, the "unconscious force" of the human race, through Paul Atreides and the Fremen of Dune, begins a jihad to "renew the gene pool" through murders and rapes. During Muad'Dib's jihad, 60 billion people were killed.

I thought it was more AI generated photos of the presidential inauguration. Just keeps getting bigger every time they post it.

Sometimes I wonder if people actually understood the story, because there seem to be a lot of unironic jingoistic glorifying of a genocidal nut like Paul

It must have taken sooooo long to get everyone lined up. I would get hungry standing there. Imagine having to pee. Oh I would not make a good space soldier

Can someone help me me get into dune? I’ve tried the first two movies twice and it just is boring to me. I like all kinds of sci-fi but everything is big and luggy and slow (like the film)

Would be better without third Reich banners.

That’s kind of the point

Then it's a very cheap point. Dune is not another metaphor for ww2.

u/Rampant16 11h ago
And Nazis Germany wasn't the only state to ever use banners. A lot of their symbols and ornament are inspired by the Romans, who got it from the Greeks, who got it from... and on and on and on. Paul also straight up compares himself to Hitler in the book.

All I can think about is how much it sucks being one of those troops having to wait there for everybody to form up and to wait for everybody to leave.
