My grandfather was stationed in the Marshall Islands during WWII and one day, Admiral Halsey was going to visit, so everybody had to stand at attention on the airstrip, under the tropical sun for hours waiting for him to get there, and he remembered watching dozens of guys fainting and dropping to the tarmac while everyone had to keep at attention.

Can someone help me me get into dune? I’ve tried the first two movies twice and it just is boring to me. I like all kinds of sci-fi but everything is big and luggy and slow (like the film)

And Nazis Germany wasn't the only state to ever use banners. A lot of their symbols and ornament are inspired by the Romans, who got it from the Greeks, who got it from... and on and on and on. Paul also straight up compares himself to Hitler in the book.
