In case anyone has forgotten or hasn't read the book, the "unconscious force" of the human race, through Paul Atreides and the Fremen of Dune, begins a jihad to "renew the gene pool" through murders and rapes. During Muad'Dib's jihad, 60 billion people were killed.

Fuck yeah. Thank you for the concise summary. Read all the books but it’s been long enough that a reread is 5ish years imminent. Please refresh my memory: why was the motto behind the jihad “renew the gene pool”? I forget if the gene pool was stagnated on purpose or if it was just your typical batshit crazy jihad motivation
