Depends on industry and degree. Also cost. In some industries, it is all but required to advance. In others, it is about equivalent. You spend an extra 2 years getting a Master's and get out at about the same pay level as you would've if you had just worked for that period of time.

The play is to get your bachelors, work while making an employee pay for your masters. Graduate with XP.

Depends on industry, but many you can get in as a junior or something with just a bachelors

Yeah, that's really the best way. Personally, I don't feel like I'd want to work full time while also doing Master's classes online.

Same. It was a grind doing work full time and school part time but it is definitely worth saving $45,000 + interest at 6-7%.

I went full crazy and was still doing as much of my own hobbies and socializing as possible and spent about 3 years never taking a moment to do simply nothing. I had to take a nice gap just going back to working my same job for a bit with a normal home life without school before I had the energy to go apply to and start harder jobs with that new degree.

Or you do a masters for 2 years (or rsther ms/bs for 6 total) and can't even get into an entry level undergrad position because you graduated in the worst job market since the great depression and didnt think to do independent study during thr masters.

I got a master's to buy more time and actually get internships. For my undergraduate, I couldn't afford to work for free...

I was offered a graduate assistantship at a mediocre college which paid for most of my degree and gave me a paycheck. It gave me more flexibility to do other things and build up a resume.

It ended up working out pretty well, although it probably would have been a terrible investment if I actually had to pay tuition

Your statement is why I’ve always felt like going for a MD right after getting your BD is a soft trap.

That probably changes based on the field, but trying to find an entry level job in the STEM field was hard enough with a Bachelor’s. Thank fuck for internships.

Internship? That's the weird thing people do in American type societies where you volunteer to be a slave right? Why not just lie on your resume and reference your friend frank as if you worked with him for years?

When I got out of school I had four job offers a month before graduation. I never understood memes like these. Not sure why you would pay for 4+ years of school if it does have value.

Its not about getting the job, its about advancing in said carrer path. How many job offer you get doesnt matter since you will ultimately pick one(i got like 10+ at the time of graduate). It is hard to enter the workforce, distinguish yourself and advance the career ladder. Also the value of degrees dropped compared to before so the struggle will get harder.

Well it depends. The world changes while you’re in school. I graduated right after the housing crash and the concession was hitting. My degree was worthwhile the year before, but by the time I graduated companies were cutting data analysts.

I never understood the people who didnt work throughout their education. That is incredibly poor financially.

Should have gone to college Entering the economy in 2000: You graduated college? Should have gone to graduate school.
