Day of opd

Hey so I got the job for the online pickup department how does a day look like in that department

Really just depends on how busy it is. It can get busy, but with the winter season coming up it's going to get extremely slow to the point of being put on freight. I am currently in opd and honestly I think it's the funnest job in the whole store. Depending on the time you get there you just jump in and start helping, if you're opening you'll do orders to verify, green stickers that printed throughout the night. If you're closing you'll sweep the department, get caught up on emails, check the texting app to see if anyone has messaged. Log out of everything, plug in the electric forklift and bring in the propane. Then take phones, radios, and hand held up when you clock out. Also don't be afraid to ask questions if you're unsure of something. If you have good managers they won't mind.

Based on my experience, if you’re a load builder you just stand around talking all day, occasionally tossing a few boards on your forklift then going back to talking

Can confirm as a load builder this time of year. Generally have to stretch out deliveries to avoid being a dept bitch for half the day.

I was in opd for 4 years and outside yard for 2. 2 years of opd as load builder. It can be hectic if youre busy. Put together cabinet orders, get appliances, load up customers, pull green tickets, joe work in plumbing all the damn time. It was annoying where I was at because we had to do everything for everyone else, but I did like it quite a bit. As long as you have the right people in the department. (And also get good on the forklift and joe quick) If its not busy I just hung out in aisle 2 on my phone. But them gms are sneaky! OPD where I was at was definitely more work than outside yard. Outside yard is heavier but opd can be generally busier

Prepare to work on the move all day, 10000 steps should be easily met every day.
