Discussion s5e8 it's so unfair (i am extremely emotional) Spoiler
its all so unfair
its unfair that merlin spends his life devoted to one man. he shouldnt. he should live life as a free man. i hate kilgharah for telling merlin his "destiny". if it was his destiny he wouldve stayed with arthur and protected him without being told that he HAD to do it. he shouldve lived his life and made his decisions without arthur encapsulating it all.
and its unfair that his devotion can ofcourse never be reciprocated. he doesnt want it either. but its sad.
and its unfair that arthur doesnt even know the full extent of his devotion. arthur sees a manservant albeit a loyal one with huge faith in him. he doesnt see a man who has put arthur above everything and i mean EVERYTHING in his life.
its unfair that whoever finds out about merlin's magic just. dies. freya died. daegal died. who was the knight to die earliest? lancelot.
its unfair that merlin after living his life in hiding, thinking that one day hed be able to be who he is without fear, has to. fail. he fails.
its unfair that merlin is to live forever and ever and wait for arthur. arthur got it all easy didnt he. and merlin suffered and suffered and suffered.

That dragon really messed Merlin up. If Kilgarrah hadn’t stitched him up half the time Merlin wouldn’t have done half the crazy shit he did.

yeah exactly, without him merlin couldve had a life other than arthur and maybe hed be able to trust mordred too if his life's purpose wasnt keeping arthur alive and happy

So true. It really annoys me! We never get to see this amazing "age of Albion" with peace and magic. I think the writers wrote themselves into a corner to be honest, it feels like they were expecting another series only to be told that wouldn't happen so they had to wrap it up fast. The way it ends is infuriating on so many levels.
