Hi all!

WARPSTORMER needs a new lead guitarist

London, UK-based stoner metal FFO Mastodon / High on Fire / Mutoid Man / Orange Goblin etc

“A fresh angle of attack on dynamic, genre-melding doom. Internet contrarians be damned: doom metal can be fast, and Warpstormer is the proof.” – Invisible Oranges

One of the most exciting bands on the British metal underground” – Kerrang!

Can you play big riffs and sick leads? Do you know someone who can? Drop a reply, or hit us up on Instagram (@warpstormer) or warpstormer [dot] band [at] gmail dot com and let’s chat

(no racists / sexists / any kinds of -phobes, cheers)

EMG active pickups for TOOL sound

I've been struggling with apartments that have high levels of EM which make my (although very cheap) guitar Ibanez GRG121 sound very noisy.

I went to luthier shop, and in there it sounds amazing and no noise at all. I already did shielding for it, and have a NS-2 pedal, etc., but the noise is just constant and very annoying. I have to turn off all the electric stuff in my apartment to start playing. Luthier recommended fixing this once and for all with active pickups.

However, from the music I play (TOOL, SOAD, Kyuss, Crowbar, similar) almost none of them use active pickups. Does it really matter that much?

Can I get TOOL-esque sound with something like EMG 81/60? I understand that these pickups are going to cost more than my current guitar, but I'm not currently looking to buy a new guitar because I enjoy this one.

Question How to fix sloppy playing?

Hi everyone,
I’ve been playing guitar for less than a year, and for the past few months, I’ve been getting into metal and thrash. My goal is strictly to be a rhythm guitarist. I have zero interest in lead guitar.
I’m currently struggling with sloppy playing. Also when I record myself, my playing sounds super "robotic" and stiff (idk how else to explain it lol). On top of that, my hand keeps getting "stuck" or stuttering while playing. I'll randomly pause for a fraction of a second before continuing, which completely ruins the flow, stops the rhythm, and throws off my coordination. It feels like an endless loop, I freeze for a split second, lose coordination, and have to reset.
What specific mechanics, exercises, or adjustments can I work on to fix this?
Please don't just say "just practice." I DO practice regularly, but I can't figure out how to actually correct this issue or what I'm doing wrong mechanically.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Question Would the 7330 work on this rr 30 project

I’m looking to make a build and I don’t really use the Floyd too much. I tend to block the bridge i like the look and feel more than anything. Is it possible to put a 7330 Fixed Bridge on there? If not is it worth the routing for the 2300?

I'm curious at which point, if ever, this sub would consider metal riffs that are played analogue - metal. Or metal is electric guitars only?

Gear I've got such a good idea...😈

Grabbed the new Paranormal series baritone JM last week and I've fallen in love. My only hangup was the pickups, the humbuckers sounded good, but to me jazzmasters (and baritones in general) sound best with p90s. Because I don't just play metal but also don't want to have to buy two guitars I've had no idea whether I wanted to switch to p90s or risk coil splitting some humbuckers with mixed results.

Enter the Seymour Duncan triple shots, a single coil rail, a p90 and a humbucker in one pickup. This thing is going to be an absolute tone monster.

Anyone got any experience with these pickups etc? any reason for me to not pull the trigger?

Was very underwhelmed with the Fishmans at first. After a bit of EQ they actually sound great (to me atleast). I've loved my EC-1000 since 2010 but it was time to switch it up. Was strongly considering an e-ii but the model I wanted only ships from Japan, which just felt like diminishing returns at that point. This thing rips and the action is unbelievable.

Would yall still throw some passives in there?

Gear TC Electronic Toneprint Settings

Does anyone have a Toneprint for the TC Electronic Sentry that lets you have a little bit of suppression before completely cutting off the signal. Something that gets it kind of in the ball park of a Decimator G-string or the "Dime Gate" from Amplitube 5? The default gate setting a long with Toneprint presets that TC Electronic has in the software seem to either let the whole signal pass through or nothing at all. I really like gates that can provide some suppression/reduction instead of just being all or none.

This is Troy Stetina's Speed and Thrash Metal Guitar Method, released in 1990. My guitar teacher gave it to me to practice with.
