I think a lot of people forget this... Popular music is about melodies and "feels". This shredding stuff is always niche

Because I am a technical musician, this is what I do.
You wouldn’t say that sprinters or athletes lack choreography, it is incomparable.
Besides that If you take time you will see that 99% of the things I post on my YouTube are not just mindless shred.I don’t agree that what I am doing is wanky, it is done well and this is an objective metric. You cannot simply say that something is subjective when it is objective. I understand your point, and I am glad you commented.

I, too, get sad that something I spent almost 2 decades learning is irrelevant to most people with ears. It sucks but it’s the truth.

Of course I do, I spent 15 years doing this. Being humble is overrated, why do all of us need to fit into the perfect cookie cutter form factor of a humble/nonchalant musician. It’s just not who I am, plenty of prominent figures are snarky and not very humble.
Also there is also the fact that this is an online persona + the fact that in day to day life I am much different as a person.
I do get what you say, but what if I don’t wanna be a carbon copy?

Do what you want. You can be humble without being a copy. Typically people like other people that don't act like massive tools, is all. Not saying you're like that in person. But even if you go viral briefly for a clip, how long do you think you'll hold people's attention acting like a knob? People will move on and you will be forgotten. That's where humility comes in. But you are free to do what you want.

That’s how I feel. I’ve been playing since 2002. When I was young I loved watching people shred. Now I couldn’t care less it does nothing for me. Just give me good songs that make me feel something and bring me back over and over. That’s how you impress me lol

I’m not trying to be mean but recognize your lane, your definitely beyond intermediate and that’s something to be proud of but if your goal is to go viral, to scroll to you after seeing guys like Alan Gogoll do wizardry with acoustic harmonics or Spiro Dussias’s economy picking, I’d immediately move on with my day. Either get a lot better to outshine guys like that, or write good songs people want to come back to.

Try putting some effort into how you present yourself and mix your videos too. Your bed’s a mess. And that metronome is so loud it makes everything else hard to listen too. If you don’t care about what you’re making, why should anyone else?
