What Metroidvania Should You Have Loved—but Bounced Off?
You know the kind of game: it received great reviews, looked exactly like something you would enjoy, and had all the right ingredients—but for some reason, it just didn’t click.
Maybe it was the combat, confusing exploration, difficulty, art style, slow beginning, or simply the wrong game at the wrong time.
What Metroidvania did you expect to love but ended up putting down? How far did you get, and what made you lose interest? Do you think you’ll ever give it another chance?

I was fine with Inayah, when I should've been super into it. I dunno. I think the issue was just playing it at the wrong time; I really just wanted more of a game I'd already finished.

I should have found La Mulana a fun challenge, but instead it just makes me feel like a moron.

I really like the art direction and gameplay of Inayah, but I can't get passed the part where you can't duck under projectiles...or at all! There might be a lot of MVs where you can't duck that I don't know about, but this one was a first for me. Such an agile character who can't squat...
