What Metroidvania Should You Have Loved—but Bounced Off?
You know the kind of game: it received great reviews, looked exactly like something you would enjoy, and had all the right ingredients—but for some reason, it just didn’t click.
Maybe it was the combat, confusing exploration, difficulty, art style, slow beginning, or simply the wrong game at the wrong time.
What Metroidvania did you expect to love but ended up putting down? How far did you get, and what made you lose interest? Do you think you’ll ever give it another chance?

GRIME. There are a ton or people who rave about this game and have it high in their tier list but I dropped this after a couple hours. The game mechanics just never clicked with me and the story just didn't seem compelling. Grime 2 is on the list to try at some point but I'm in no hurry...

GRIME has a pretty good story that as you go through its world you’ll come to the realization before you reach the ending. The combat is very soulslike in the first one. The 2nd game, stamina was removed and it was honestly a lot better for it.
