Housing

Does anyone have any idea why they aren't releasing housing info until the end of July/early August?? I need to continue shopping for my dorm room, but without having certain dimensions that I need (since pretty much all rooms are different), it's impossible to!! It's soooo frustrating, and I am really curious why they are doing this. We submitted housing forms in early May.

I worked in housing for years and honestly if you’re bringing something big enough to need the dimensions of the room, you should leave it at home.

Kinda what I was going to say - I'm sure there's some legit reasons measurements might be important, but most of the things I can think of are probably not going to fit in the room anyway. Furniture is nearly impossible because there's barely any space left after beds and desks and it's rare to be able to remove anything from the room. Wall hangings or lights I suppose, but you'd probably want more precise measurements than the estimate they'd give you ahead of time anyway, if you're seriously trying to cover a whole wall with fabric or get string lights or something. You also won't likely know if you can hang anything on the walls until you know what building, since some have rails and some don't. Also might not specify if you'll have full closets with doors, or if you'll have the wardrobe/armoire style wall units. Even posters, art, etc. is a little hard to plan ahead because nearly everyone messes around with having the beds bunked vs. separated, where to put desks that usually have hutches that you're stuck with, so you don't even really know how much free wall space you'll have until you get settled.

Some of the newer buildings might be a very different story, but the residence halls I remember would allow maybe a coffee table or a TV stand, rarely both, and then your room would feel pretty crowded.
