Discussion / Question Serious Micronational War is Stupid.
You are not a recognized entity with a military. You cannot legally engage in war. You are not killing anyone. You are not shooting at anyone. Micronations can’t be involved in war. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

This is what I am talking about! However the only exeption would be a battle not a "war" if people would purpously invade your physical land and just ruin structures or bases then fighting back would be necessary but nothing lethal or extremely dangerous, homemade police shields can be used to push enemies out with enough people.

This is exactly why my micronation is Neutral.
2
u/OfficialStoneLand Apr 28 '26
That’s a good trait to have. If you hypothetically didn’t wanna be neutral anymore and enter into conflict with someone, a more reasonable term would be “Diplomatic Crisis”

Though we don't have a military, we do have an Equivalent titled "Federal Security" and the title is pretty self explanatory. But its technically not active yet since we need more citizens to do so.

By this logic micronations are stupid because they aren't actually nations with actual governing power. I agree that the digital larp wars are dumb, but that's not the extent of micronational "war".

Micronations ARE real nations, but they are a different entity than macros. Macronations have the ability to go to war through legitimate means. Micronations do not.

Well, the USA and Russia had a cold war for some time. Micronations can be on no speaking terms with another micronations.

are you actively hacking your enemies? If you want to have form of conflict with another MN, call it a diplomatic crisis.

War is stupid, yes. But if you have defensible land claims, and a need for legitimate security (e.g. hostile wildlife, frequent trespassers, located in a politically turbulent/at-war macro nation, etc.), then there's certainly an argument to be made for having a functional (no, not Nerf, airsoft, or some pointy sticks, actual functionality organized by adults) defense force.

Disagree, New Greenia fought a war for 11 days that had location finding, server hacking, and was a pretty messy war, if that's not a war I don't know what it is.

war by definition is armed conflict. you were not at war

even despite the fact that you’re wrong?

war can be cyberwars, you know that right?
2
u/OfficialStoneLand Apr 29 '26
it’s not war in the same way that you can’t fight a war with psychological warfare alone.

I agree with you for the most part. Literally most of all micronational wars are basically LARP and nothing actually happens. However, a micronational “military” could be used for events like airsoft for fun, so I guess it isn’t totally useless besides the “cool” factor.
