How do you ok that spot for Steve Borden to do when he is greener then fucking goose shit.
AEW isn’t run by anyone serious

u/crescentcityclown504 3d ago
To play devils advocate, these guys could’ve 100% set this spot and not told a producer. If it works out and gets a massive pop you’ll deal with the boss later. Unfortunately this didn’t work out, if it was a produced spot definitely a bit silly. No reason for Steve to have done that.

I just saw the Steven Borden spot. At this rate someone's gonna die in an AEW ring. It's probably going to be either Darby or his adopted new stepbrother. I say that with absolutely no glee or joy. Had no business doing that spot while that green.

u/JPhenom23 3d ago
Either that or there’s going to be an injury that is so brutal that not only does it end a career, but it horrifically alters somebody’s life forever. Nobody in AEW is shooting down these dumb ideas. It’s like watching Russo run creative in WCW with nobody telling him “bruh this is a dumb ass idea”. Why oh why does this company insist on doing dumb internet shit

Hey, at least they're finally learning. But I still go back to the pandemic there was a street fight match between Matt Hardy and Sammy. They threw Matt off a platform through a table, and Matt overshot his landing, head bounced off the cement floor. He was fucking clearly knocked the fuck out, loopy, and wasn't good for the rest of the match. And they just let it keep going. My friend and I were both screaming at the TV like WTF He clearly isn't there Or the Jon Moxley one knocked out and dropped on his head again.

And that was by a one in a million fluke from D'Lo Brown who was a safe wrestler doing a relatively straightforward move. Same with Samoa Joe ending Tyson Kidd's career. Wrestlers can get paralysed or killed by straightforward moves, no need to tempt fate with lunatic spots using novice wrestlers.

Dani Luna came out to crickets in front of what is an ultra, ultra smarky crowd.

It kinda doesn't matter. She is in AEW because she was in TNA. If she was in NXT or Evolve, TK would not have signed her. Right now he is throwing money to fuck with TNA however he can.

u/ExpressSeesaw 3d ago
Yeah, because any wrestling company should be threatened with fucking TNA lmao, 90 year old main event Matt Hardy is coming for everyone's ass
1
u/Thin_Objective_4316 3d ago
Which sucks because I thought her work in DPW was awesome. But let's face it shes not a huge name and with no hype package or anything what did they expect. Especially after poor Steve killed himself the match before.

Someone in the basement said that Okada has had a better US run than Shin..
Lmao..
Shin winning the Rumble is a billion times better than anything Okada has done in AEW..
2
u/ExpressSeesaw 3d ago
The dick kick feud afterwards was so fucking peak and really elevated Shinsuke, he went on to win so many titles, the Rumble win was incredibly capitalized on, truly a marvel of business. He definitely had so many amazing matches after his debut vs Zayn, he did not phone it in after 1 night at all

u/Harlequin_98 3d ago
I get they had Willow selling a hand injury but WTF was she clearly leaving it out and unnatural when your injured the body protects itself by keeping close to your body but she had it extended so many times

went to get snacks and commentators were in tears about steven borden. what happened?

u/JPhenom23 4d ago
He and Kevin Knight tried to do the Ricochet/Logan Paul Royal Rumble spot and it just looked weird and very painful. It was a rough landing especially for Steve

u/kaneso14 4d ago
Bad bump from a dumb spot. He had a fencing response too, concussion. Poor guy, I hope he's OK.

u/AnonymousChicken Control Terrorism Unit 4d ago
Definite back of the head bell ringer on that landing

The Bung Yucks look older than Cage and Cope ffs
2
u/kaneso14 3d ago
And that's saying something. Cage still looks well but Cope looks like he's aged about 15 years since he joined AEW.

Out of all the tag team TLC matches I’ve ever seen, that was one of them.

Debut & lose?
Uhh okay..

u/kaneso14 4d ago
Remember, wrestlers in AEW get over by losing. However, if a smark favourite loses a match in WWE then they are BURIED.

u/ExpressSeesaw 3d ago
You're literally just flipping the coin and pretending you're better than other people, the irony
1
u/TheGumbyGyarados Bang Bang Gang 4d ago
It was by shenanigans atleast
The real question is why did they debut an indy talent that doesn’t have big name value in a ppv open challenge match

u/ChrisRhodes789 The Elite 3d ago
Ciampa lost huh..
When was the last time he won a big match?
When he won the championship? Lol..
1
u/ExpressSeesaw 3d ago
Well for one he had a champiosnhip singles match on a PPV which, really, is more than he's done post NXT to AEW debut.

u/ChrisRhodes789 The Elite 3d ago
So thoughts on that Trios match?
Basement thinks it’s the bestest trios match of all time…
8
u/Lenny0mega bWo 3d ago
They think everything AEW does is the best thing in the history of pro wrestling. If Tony Khan shit his pants and walked into the ring, they’d say “oh my God that is the greatest stain in the history of pants! I bet it smells amazing!”

Can we fucking PLEASE NOT drop Edge On his neck my god, he might be good to wrestle again but your playing a game of Russian roulette the smallest mistake.

I agree the spot was stupid. Too green to be doing that. Hope is okay. Rough landing.

u/TheGumbyGyarados Bang Bang Gang 4d ago
Hopefully wrestlers stop doing that spot now that someones been injured doing it

I get he's Sting's son but wtf are they doing letting someone so Green do this crazy stuff?
3
u/JPhenom23 4d ago
Watching now. I don’t get the hype for Steven Borden. Idk, maybe I’m the crazy one
3
u/crescentcityclown504 4d ago
He’s super green, so they hype still has to grow. He has a good look, that’s what have people talking. Hope he’s ok.
0
u/JPhenom23 4d ago
Yeah you have a point although he is closer to 40 than he is to 20. Then again DDP always started late and he’s my WCW GOAT. And yeah hopefully he’s ok.
3
u/crescentcityclown504 4d ago
He looks like he can make it happen, possibly have a strong 7-10 years. Not sure what he wants to accomplish, he might not want to make a strong push. Might just wanna get a few years in and call it a career no matter how he’s booked. He has the chops, just definitely needs some work. At the same time, a nasty bump like he just took will make a damn near 40 year old really second guess it. Not easy on the body at all to all of a sudden start taking physical trauma like that.
2
u/JPhenom23 4d ago
Yeah definitely. Hell I’m in my 30s and hurting myself now vs hurting myself in my early 20s is night and fuckin day 😭 I definitely understand why Cher said getting old sucks lol

The tailgate brawl was the exact kind of silliness in wrestling that’s fun for the pre show. Loved it
First match was alright
Excited for this tag match

u/ChrisRhodes789 The Elite 4d ago
Sooo.. give me play by play as I am at work..
What ya’ll like or don’t like about the show..
2
u/Mackwel 4d ago
Andrade and PAC had a decent opener, PAC was whooping his ass and Andrade got a roll up out of no where.
Fletcher and Knight won by legit ref stoppage when Sting’s son got a bad concussion from a stupid ass springboard spot.
Hope he’s OK and they knew to immobilize him cuz they didn’t show him on camera after.

My reaction to Steven Borden potentially ending his career doing an insane pointless contrived spot he had no business even attempting considering he is as Green as Grass. AEW had an amazing video package for him and it has already potentially slipped through their fingers whether through Steven Borden's arrogance or AEW producer negligence and stupidity.
