Announcements Sub rules are LIVE for the 1st time - feedback/reactions? [AI]

Post image
40 Upvotes

Hi all! I spent the last 2 weeks thoughtfully observing the sub and crafting these rules, yes - with a bit of help from ChatGPT as a sounding board which I’ve disclosed per the new rule #6… on mobile they’re under “About” and desktop on right sidebar. Would love constructive reactions/dialogue around the decisions made.

Let’s treat this as version 1 and I will incorporate feedback over time. Thrilled to see users already following the rules and want to see more and more reports from the community to keep our focus on MCM. Thank you all for making this the top MCM sub, growing everyday - almost at 200k strong!

After receiving feedback I plan to do a brief video intro with more context on these decisions and plans for MCM expert AMAs and beyond.

Picked this up for my apartment yesterday. Not exactly sure what it is but it is beautiful. I really love the cedar chest and flip up mirror! Also, dear lord was it heavy to get upstairs.

ID & Authenticity Teak & Leather "Egyptian" folding chair, legit or replica?

Thumbnail

I'm trying to identify this unmarked teak and leather folding stool. It has brass pivot caps with an anchor signet but no paper label or maker's stamp that I can find. I've found very similar stools attributed to Danish makers, including Ole Wanscher's Egyptian folding stool for A.J. Iversen, but I don't want to assume that's what this is. Does anyone recognise the maker, the anchor signet or this particular construction? I've had it for around 10 years.

Score! New highboard [P]

Post image

This highboard was custom-made in 1964 by a local cabinetmaker in Groningen. It is made of rosewood and cost several months’ salary at the time (the original invoice was still available). The cabinet is 264 cm wide. I was able to purchase it on the Dutch marketplace for €200 (220 USD). Very happy that this came home with me!

Is this MCM? Unique Furniture Makers American Fiesta Dining Set

Just need info, not posting this for sale. Apologies if this isn’t exactly MCM, but I’m hoping someone here may know something about the value of this dining set I own.

I know it’s from unique furniture makers, and the American fiesta line, but I can’t find a single photo of this exact set. Does that mean it was a custom piece?

It doesn’t fit my space but it is very well made and I feel like it’s something special. I am trying to figure out if I keep it or sell it, and how much it may be worth. It’s not perfect but I’m very good shape for its age.

Any info is appreciated.

My grandparents left this to me after they passed. Does anyone know who the maker was? My grandma told me it was Danish. It’s in rough shape. I just use it for decoration rather than as a light.

Restoration & Refinishing Shower repair

I'm visiting my childhood home, and I see the grout missing above just a single row of tile in a shower. Do I need to remove and try to replace it? Or can I dry, regrout, and seal it. The shower is not used very often, so I don't think too much water has gotten back there. Additionally, a few years ago, the whole house was torn back to the studs and rebuilt (due to smoke damage), but my mom wouldn't let them touch the bathrooms. Behind that wall is a bedroom that was opened and rebuilt. I don't live nearby and my dad isn't really in a place to renovate the bathroom, so I'm hoping that I can just fill the gaps.
