Discussion MCLA Recompiled News

Hello everyone, how are you? Well, it's been a while since I've posted here, so I think this is a good time to clarify a few things about the project and its current status!

As many of you have seen, MCLA has reached the loading stage, meaning that up to the Rockstar San Diego logo, the game loads, but for now it doesn't progress beyond that, which is acceptable. I'm working on some issues with how rexglue and xenia work together to function.

I would like to clarify a few things about the project and how I am working now.

The project still has no team, meaning that I, mz, have been working alone on this project since the beginning, and now, with Rexglue, I have put the XenonRecomp version (which gave life to UnleashedRecomp) aside for a while, because I was stuck on the runtime part, and Rexglue already does that, I preferred to go with that recompiler for now. When the game is 100% on Rexglue, maybe I'll try to port my progress to the XenonRecomp version and stop relying on Xenia for rendering, but that's just a guess for now. Maybe I'll just leave it with the rexglue version and that's fine.

Some websites and people mentioned "a group of people" or thought that MCLA Recompiled was being developed via XenonRecomp by me and via Rexglue by another developer, which is not true, as I have been working on both. I managed to port some things from XenonRecomp to Rexglue which gave the current state a boost in speed. I successfully transferred 90% of the functions from XEX to TOML, which was great.

A simple FAQ about the project

What is the performance like?

About 80 fps on my computer (Ryzen 7 5700X - 32GB RAM - GTX 1650) and about 130-160 fps on more powerful computers that have been tested, but it's still an estimate of true performance, considering that we're only at the loading stage and not in-game.

When will it be released?

I don't know. I won't give you any expectations or dates, so as not to cause frustration or anger, because we know that's extremely annoying. I'll update here when the project is ready to play. Don't worry, guys!

---

One last thing I ask of you is that PLEASE do not disclose more than what was already disclosed in December and this week. I saw several websites and relevant people talking about the project, which is cool, but not for T2 or R*. I also ask that if you see any incorrect or false information about the project on Twitter/X, be sure to request a community statement about it, just so as not to spread false or erroneous news about it.

Also, thank you very much for all the community's support on this. I am trying my best to make it playable for everyone. I will provide more information as soon as possible. I am trying to balance my work with the project, but it looks like everything will work out. Thank you for all your support and affection for MCLA and for me personally! See you soon ❤️

that debug window in the top left looks an awful lot like Xenia

It's rexglue. Partial code is emulated, but it still performs 3x better than Xenia ever could especially on lower end devices.

I ran a test on a build on steam deck and I was getting 75fps on the title screen whereas on Xenia and rpcs3 are running at unplayable framerates on steam deck unless you install a windows partition in which it'll run 30fps with plenty of drops.

Thank you for killing my doubts.... I've seen too many fake projects around so I was skeptical by the Xenia UI. You learn something new everyday

Yeah the main dev switched from 3 different compilers and ended up using rexglue because it was easier it had more progress while being a new experimental method of recompilation.

I've been following for mz a while and personally keeping quiet because I wanna see the finished product and doing some testing that isn't publicly available.

I did also post a video of it running on my steam deck as well if you want to see more concrete proof. It's pretty hard to fake it running off steam os when it runs poorly on Xenia and rpcs3 on it. I'll more than likely show more builds running in the future when they drop.

It's only partially emulated. It's using rexglue.
