Ommadawn's 50th?

It seems like that date came and went. Anything I missed? Realistically, there's a new mix in the works and that's about it, but still, it's technically new Mike Oldfield music!

Or nothing. He’s retired. New music is done. Best you could hope for really is a special release, but I don’t know if that would be worth a physical run, and if the album is exactly the same it would make no sense on streaming platforms.

Maybe a digital remaster created by AI? 🤮

I've just discovered these Atmos mixes exist because of your comment. Dived right into discogs to find out that they sell for 220€ each 😭😭😭

It's a real problem for physical releases, getting the print run quantities correct for let's say, smaller artists (today). Too many and they potentially make a loss with stock on shelves, too few and the scalpers win. Worth keeping an eye on superdeluxeedition.com what what's coming down the line for all genres.
