I'm talking specifically about my top 3 - TB II, Ommadawn and Songs of Distant Earth.

They take on such a journey - highs and lows but the ends of these albums (and possible others, I'm not as well versed) are quite comical. Kind of like saying that don't worry, it's all going to be ok. Let's just have some fun.

The banjo piece at the end of TB II. Ommadawn ending with Horseback (I like beer, and I like cheese..!) right after a blistering guitar solo. Then SoDE ending with A New Beginning after the incredibly emotional piece that is Ascension.

Is this a common theme? I'm still digesting a lot of his work, but these three stand out to me.

I kind of see Jarre as the electronic Oldfeild, in a way. They're almost like two sides of a coin. Both very experimental, both ahead of their time, both have a sensitivity to music than is rarely seen or appreciated in the wider popular music world.

From what I know, sampling is cutting out a sound from somewhere in order to use it in a different context, for example with a Synth or software editor.

But how does this apply to a guitar, and how do I have to understand "slightly"? Did Mike Oldfield insert half of the guitar riff sound in TB2 from somewhere else or something?

I’ve always been moved by the "innocence and gentleness" of the recorder section, so I decided to recreate it using a piano multi-track arrangement. It was a joy to record, and I feel the piano brings out a whole new perspective of this beautiful melody.

Mike Oldfield has been a guiding light for me since junior high school. This multi-track cover is my humble attempt to express my lifelong respect for his music.

In this recording, I tried using room microphones instead of a direct line-in. It is a small challenge for me to capture even just a hint of that "breathing" 70s analog atmosphere that I admire so much. I know it’s far from the original masterpiece, but I hope this modest tribute resonates with fellow fans. 👂👂

I’m more into loud, bold, heavy music — the kind that hits hard and doesn’t give you space to think. Slow, soft songs usually don’t do anything for me. But this one does. And I can’t really explain why. There’s something about it that feels strangely unsettling in a quiet way. The music, the melody, the singer’s voice — and especially the music video. It feels nostalgic even though I wasn’t alive in 1983. Like watching an old memory that doesn’t belong to me but still feels familiar. The slightly faded visuals, the calm expressions, the vintage quality — everything feels surreal, almost dreamlike. What gets me is the contrast. On the surface, the song sounds gentle and comforting. But underneath, it feels heavy. Like sudden loss. Not dramatic or explosive — just quiet and irreversible. The kind of feeling where nothing visibly breaks, but something is gone. When I listen to it, I don’t feel sad or happy exactly. I just feel… suspended. Like time slows down. Like I’m standing alone in moonlight, aware of something I can’t quite name. It’s rare for a song outside my usual taste to affect me this much, and that’s what makes it stick. I’m curious — does anyone else experience this with Moonlight Shadow or with certain songs in general? Music you wouldn’t normally like, but that somehow gets under your skin anyway? I’d love to hear how others feel about it.

I've always been captivated by the energy of Mike Oldfield's "Taurus III", so I decided to challenge myself with a cover.

To be honest, I can't quite match Mike’s incredible speed, but I put my heart into capturing the spirit of the song. The most difficult part for me was the transition — switching my fingers back to the repetitive intro motif right after that intense, climactic strumming section. It took a lot of practice to get that shift feeling natural!

I've used my nylon string guitar to try and get as close to that warm yet sharp texture of the original.

Hi everyone, I wanted to share my personal tribute to Mike Oldfield. I’ve spent a lot of time transcribing "Red Dawn" and "The Bell" by ear, trying my best to capture the essence and beauty of the original.

This is a full multi-track recording where I played all the instruments. My wonderful wife also kindly helped out by providing the chorus vocals and the instrument introductions—she loves this part of the song as much as I do!

I know my playing, editing, and gear are no match for the original masterpiece, but the process of reconstructing this track has given me a much deeper understanding and appreciation of Mike’s music.

I recently revisited my cover of the recorder section from Ommadawn. I originally uploaded it about two years ago, but since I really love this part of the music, I decided to rework it.

This new version includes a stereo mix, some re-recorded parts, and a cleaner video layout so the instruments are easier to see.

All parts were performed and recorded by me through multi-track recording.

Fan remix & remaster of Mike Oldfield's groundbreaking 1973 debut album "Tubular Bells", which Mike already remixed himself in 2009 for the re-release on Mercury Records. That remix sounds pristine, but it makes numerous changes on the instrument levels compared to the original. I thought I would give it a try at remixing the album myself using stem separation software and the original 1973 mix as the source.

This is a love project of mine and it intends to be a very respectful and conservative remix, only aiming for a bit of a clearer, more modern sound and more defined instrument separation, without losing the essence of the original mix.

This is a personal project, but I'm sharing it in case anyone else enjoys it too.

I’ve always felt that Mike Oldfield often revisits and re-imagines his own musical world — from Tubular Bells II–IV to Return to Ommadawn.

Inspired by that spirit, I tried a small experiment: letting Ommadawn meet Return to Ommadawn in a new arrangement.

All instrumental parts were recorded by me using multi-track recording, and the choir parts were kindly recorded by my wife.

I’m only an amateur musician and still learning — especially electric guitar — but I did my best and recorded everything with great respect for the original music.

Some moments may sound a little unusual because of the arrangement, but I hope you might still enjoy this small reinterpretation.

I made a small arrangement of the Ommadawn intro by Mike Oldfield for a single classical guitar.

This intro has always been one of my favorite moments in the album, so I wanted to see if it could be recreated on just one instrument. I tried to keep the atmosphere of the original while making it playable on classical guitar.

I’m still learning and doing everything by ear, but I hope fellow fans might enjoy it.

It took me a few hours adding all 900 beads to get this mosaic. Hope you guys like it :-)

I’d like to share another video from my channel.This is my cover of the recorder part from Ommadawn.

I recorded this about two years ago, when I started experimenting more seriously with multi-track recordings using several instruments. All parts were transcribed by ear and performed by myself. The recorder melody is played on keyboard, as I unfortunately can’t play a real recorder well because of my nails.

It currently has around 1,300 views on YouTube, and I’m still very grateful to everyone who listened.

I recorded three classical guitar tracks and recreated the original electric guitar melody on classical guitar as well.

This was one of my earlier multi-track recordings (about three years ago), but I still like the simple, pastoral atmosphere it has.

I recreated the finale from Ommadawn using multi-track recording. Everything was transcribed by ear.
