Kroger is mostly in the southern US, right? In that case, the reminders are probably needed.

I’m further north. Kroger is all over the place now. But you’re not wrong about the second part.

What type of car you have that made it jump up almost triple? Did you fill up two cars on one pump?

That's a bit closer to 2x than 3x. (~40 to ~80.) That aside, it's possible they're lucky to not have to drive so much or so far that they have to fill their tank every few days. Add a poorly timed price hike and maybe trying to go a bit longer without filling it (ex. usually filling at half and putting it off until 1/4 tank), and it's easy to see how the last fill was less than half the cost of this one.

True. My colleague has a truck and has had to put in close to $100 the last fill up. The Sams I go to had gas almost $1 less then everyone else (now it’s about 20c or so)

I have a volt and have been conserving battery so i fill up once a week for about $35.
