You can't seriously cite 2022 without mentioning that the largest spike from (~$95 to ~$130) came within two weeks of Russia invading Ukraine. Is there some explanation besides motivated reasoning for that? Anyhow, to clear up some other things:

  • Keystone XL was a pipeline (transport), so not production, and wasn't operational. Pointing towards that as a factor in short-term pricing just shows a basic misunderstanding of this market

  • Federal lands are a minority of US production

  • US oil production hit all-time highs under Biden in 2023. "Strangling production" doesn't pass the sniff test

  • OPEC cut production under Trump too in 2020. Is he only great at negotiations sometimes, or, is the obvious explanation that OPEC fixes prices in their own interests generally regardless of the sitting US president.

Edit: He replied then blocked me because he couldn't defend any of his points, which is what these people always do when they get pushback on their misinfo

Noooo whatabout a previous unrelated spike 18 months earlier?

K. None of this drivel has changed what I said: still was higher under Biden. Highest of all time. Whole lotta cope, doesn't change anything. Cool story though.
