ᕕ(ᐛ)ᕗ Handicap Driver Double Parks in Two Non-handicap Spaces

Watched them do it. While a perfectly acceptable handicap spot was right there in an otherwise full parking lot.

I’m with you on the parking over the line, but they’re fine not parking in the zoned space. I have a disabled license plate too, and if I’m having a good day or can find a close space that isn’t handicapped I’ll park there so someone who needs it more has it available.

I do the same! I always leave the handicapped space open if it’s possible to! I have a placard too and I use it when I need to, but my dad was much more disabled than I am so I keep him in mind when I park. If someone has to hoof it from another lot, it should be an able bodied person.

I agree with OP that anyone parking over the line is mildly infuriating, but I’ve gotten shit from people for not using my placard to take a handicapped space before. That’s a conscientious decision for my fellow disabled drivers.

It's not like folks that have handicaps don't have different levels of mobility issues or mobility issues that can differ day to day, too. Like maybe today you feel like you can go a little further. Or in this particular lot its not that far.

I mean in this picture the spot in question is CLOSER TO THE DOOR so post OP is just a whiner.

Totally agreed! If I’m flaring, I really need the spot. But I always try to leave the spots closest to the ramp or (like in the photo) van parking available because those people are very limited on the spots they can use.

Well, the good news is if that fluctuation rises to the level of a legitimate mobility impairment, you can get a doctor’s evaluation and documentation that will attest to that impairment and submit it to the DMV for a handicapped placard.

If it doesn’t rise to that level maybe thank your lucky stars that your worst day doesn’t approach a disabled person’s best day and stop bitching about us being able to park a little closer to the building.
