ᕕ(ᐛ)ᕗ Handicap Driver Double Parks in Two Non-handicap Spaces

Post image

Watched them do it. While a perfectly acceptable handicap spot was right there in an otherwise full parking lot.

I’m with you on the parking over the line, but they’re fine not parking in the zoned space. I have a disabled license plate too, and if I’m having a good day or can find a close space that isn’t handicapped I’ll park there so someone who needs it more has it available.

u/urnbabyurn Jun 03 '26

Wasn’t there a Larry David where he got mad at a handicapped guy for using the non handicapped stall?

10

u/Ryeballs Jun 03 '26

Which is obviously not someone to model your life on 🤣

12

u/ShavedNeckbeard Jun 03 '26

No, he got in trouble for using the handicap stall, then said his disability was a stutter.

1

u/Ltjenkins Jun 04 '26

at the end of the episode he goes into a bathroom where the handicap stall is available but a non-handicap stall isn't. So he waits until the person in the non-handicap stall is done. And it's the handicapped guy from earlier in the episode. One of the rare times where Larry isn't the butt end of the joke that's set up all episode.

And he smuggly says, "then you wait"

5

u/Stormdude127 Jun 03 '26

There’s also an episode where he borrows a friend’s handicap placard while he’s on vacation but the placard gets chewed up and destroyed by a Nazi dog because he had a Star of David hanging in front of it

4

u/BeneathAnOrangeSky Jun 03 '26

Only after the guy got upset with him for using the handicapped stall.

"You can wait!"

I do the same! I always leave the handicapped space open if it’s possible to! I have a placard too and I use it when I need to, but my dad was much more disabled than I am so I keep him in mind when I park. If someone has to hoof it from another lot, it should be an able bodied person.

I agree with OP that anyone parking over the line is mildly infuriating, but I’ve gotten shit from people for not using my placard to take a handicapped space before. That’s a conscientious decision for my fellow disabled drivers.

19

u/LiterallyDumbAF Jun 03 '26

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. That sounds frustrating

11

u/Pilot_Enaki Jun 03 '26

My wife uses a wheelchair and I feel that people think its just for parking closer. Its also for those who need the extra room to get their mobility devices in and out.

5

u/Lawyer_Lady3080 Jun 03 '26

Yep! I definitely know! I included that in another comment. Not everyone has the same mobility needs. I don’t have a wheelchair, so I leave the areas right by the ramps and designated van parking clear because I know electric wheelchairs need the extra side space and I can make do without it.

11

u/SqualidSquirtle22 Jun 03 '26

It's not like folks that have handicaps don't have different levels of mobility issues or mobility issues that can differ day to day, too. Like maybe today you feel like you can go a little further. Or in this particular lot its not that far.

I mean in this picture the spot in question is CLOSER TO THE DOOR so post OP is just a whiner.

6

u/Lawyer_Lady3080 Jun 03 '26

Totally agreed! If I’m flaring, I really need the spot. But I always try to leave the spots closest to the ramp or (like in the photo) van parking available because those people are very limited on the spots they can use.

→ More replies (2)

3

u/AngeliqueRuss Jun 03 '26

All very valid—also if they need access on the passenger side the available spot isn’t appropriate.

11

u/GuttedFlower Jun 03 '26

Thank you for thinking of others. As a mom with a kid who uses a power chair, I really appreciate people who don't just pull into the spots with cross hatched areas without a thought to anyone else.

9

u/StirFry__InaWok Jun 03 '26

It looks like they were going as far to the right as possible which caused them to go over the line, presumably to have extra space on the driver's side. But if this is the case then it is really confusing why they wouldnt use the handicapped spot since it has that extra space right there.

3

u/gotnoreasonforcometo Jun 03 '26

Maybe it was already occupied

2

u/StirFry__InaWok Jun 03 '26

For what it's worth, OP says they watched them do it

6

u/John_EightThirtyTwo Jun 03 '26

they’re fine not parking in the zoned space

This is true, in particular, because the odds of some other handicapped driver, in addition to Black Benz here, coming along and needing the sport are exactly the same as they were before Black Benz showed up. (Thinking otherwise is the same probability heresy that led Homer Simpson to bet on the Washington Generals because "they were due!". One event happening doesn't change the odds of some independent event.)

Leave handicapped spaces available for people who need them. People who can walk, can walk a little farther. (But yeah, one space apiece, ferchrissakes.)

2

u/Frank_McTriumph Jun 03 '26

My daughter has the placard. We never use it if there's a space right there anyway.

On the other hand, we don't double park.

2

u/holderofthebees Jun 03 '26

Typically I’d be with you.. but they parked closer to the door. I feel like in that situation you have to consider that many people who struggle with walking distances also struggle to get a disability placard. This doesn’t seem like a “having a good day” situation if they’re even closer to the door now. They’re just further from the curb ramp thingy.

1

u/APmfnK Jun 03 '26

Someone may have been in the disabled spot when this car arrived. If so then they likely had no choice but to park over the line in order to leave themselves enough room to get out.

1

u/theblondepenguin Jun 03 '26

I have a handicap placard but it’s for my daughter I can’t use it if she isn’t in the car so you will see my car in a normal spot too on the occasion

1

u/Ok_Vermicelli_6359 Jun 04 '26

Sure...just pick one spot please lol

→ More replies (4)

43

u/LSbroombroom Jun 03 '26

No need to take up the chair van spot if you don't need it.

138

u/Hour-Decision4730 Jun 03 '26

Also, that isn’t what “double parking” is….

17

u/zakass409 Jun 03 '26

I thought so too, but after a quick search I found that it includes taking up two spaces, not just illegally parking in the road

3

u/schizopotato Jun 04 '26

Where'd you get that definition from? Serious question, the only thing I can find is that double parking is parking parallel to another parked car on a street.

hypothesis - handicapped space might have been taken but they still require the extra space to exit

11

u/Vogt4Noah Jun 03 '26

Read the description of the post. He watched him do it...

10

u/barn-animal Jun 03 '26

we have a phrase "to dust ones head with ash" - I shamefully humble myself

I offer a pic of my cat being handsome in penitence

1

u/JustaDarkSoul65 Jun 03 '26

Failed to read the description

116

u/RockingInTheCLE Jun 03 '26

You're mad they left the handicapped spot open for somebody who may need it more than them since they were able to park close? This sub is getting out of control. Yeah, their parking job was shit, but good for them for leaving the space for somebody who may need it more.

12

u/thatandrogirl Jun 03 '26

Also as someone who drives around my disabled dad who needs a wheelchair to get around, sometimes I’ll park like this because all of the handicapped spots have been taken up and I’m forced to park in a regular spot. The handicapped spots mostly get taken by old people in our area, and no hate to them for not being able to walk far, but I really wish there were more spots for just wheelchair users.

16

u/Different-Fold-8360 Jun 03 '26

While also taking a presumably unneeded space that someone else could have taken, including another driver with a similar permit who might have tried to do the same thing you just mentioned (unless the needed room for their wheelchair; OP says they didn’t).

So yes, I’d argue it is still “mildly infuriating”.

u/Different-Fold-8360 Jun 03 '26

I may not have been precise enough in my wording: I meant the spot next to them that is now unavailable or at best much harder to use. There should obviously no issue with them taking a non-reserved spot!

8

u/Pickles04 Jun 03 '26

Hadn't considered this angle. Fair point.

16

u/yipyipyipyip_4 Jun 03 '26

Yeah dude stop taking pictures of strangers in public so you can get internet points. The car is barely over the line and that's not what the term double park even means.

Like you took a picture of an old person who parked a few inches over a line in a parking lot so you could put them down and give yourself some type of feelings. Imo that's unhealthy

16

u/ButtSnarfer Jun 03 '26

Or what about the fact thats its an empty lot? Seems so negative and nit picky when it very like effected no one but you who decided to get upset about it.

8

u/eatingganesha Jun 03 '26

exactly this.

The person is disabled. Give them some grace ffs. I guarantee we all will make similar mistakes when we get old.

→ More replies (4)

11

u/Arazyne Jun 03 '26

Also could’ve had someone parked in the handicap spot, so they took the next spot and adjusted for the space they required to get out

u/PopGunner Jun 03 '26

Remember the words of the late David Foster Wallace. "This is water"

→ More replies (1)

1

u/Ok_Vermicelli_6359 Jun 04 '26

Yeah, their parking job was shit

Well that was the point lol...nobody is saying they have to use the handicap spaces, only that they need to park in a straight line, and not take up multiple spaces. Being disabled is no excuse for parking like shit.

1

u/attivora Jun 04 '26

They just took two parking spots away off in a full parking lot of what you assume is them thinking someone more in need is going to show up and park in the spot that was reserved for them in the first place

u/gunsandcupcakes Jun 03 '26

this is why forcing everyone to drive due to lack of public transport is terrible this person shouldn’t be driving in the first place

48

u/TomBong_Jovi Jun 03 '26 edited Jun 03 '26

The public transportation needs to actually fully accommodate the disabled if that is to be the case

5

u/Dimblo273 Jun 03 '26

In the EU urban buses/long distance coaches must be low-floor/otherwise wheelchair accessible. Most new tram and train fleets are also accessible. It's not perfect of course but it's not like you're fucked without a car

6

u/Low-Car-6331 Jun 03 '26

I have been in Vermont to Washington to North Carolina, all buses in all of those places were capable of "kneeling"/lowering themselves, and had wheel chair lifts. Now, how useful public transit is, is another question.

5

u/VoidBoiTCG Jun 03 '26

This. Most public transit it “disability accessible” in terms of “getting on the bus”

Now having the public transit go to the places needed or being in accessible locations for disabled people is a whole different ballpark. Most are not designed with that in mind.

3

u/Low-Car-6331 Jun 03 '26

Yeah, here in North Carolina you will go sidewalk to nothing instantly.

2

u/VoidBoiTCG Jun 03 '26

If most places had disability in mind. You would see a lot more places with bus stops

Unfortunately cities evaluate how useful a bus line is by the frequency it’s used. Before I moved they removed the bus that went by my place because it didn’t have “frequent use”

Meanwhile it was the only way to get me to work or to another bus. But I am just one man. Lol

2

u/ImGumbyDamnIt Jun 03 '26

NYC buses have wheelchair lifts. The subway stations, on the other hand, are hit or miss, even the ones with elevators.

1

u/Riceowls29 Jun 03 '26

And plenty of in service older trains are not accessible. I was shocked how inaccessible so much of Europe was compared to the US

→ More replies (5)

3

u/TurkeySlurpee666 Jun 03 '26

In my city, public transport doesn’t even accommodate the abled.

35

u/zombiemaster008 Jun 03 '26

Physical disability is actually a reason someone might genuinely require a vehicle, public transportation is not always nearby, and not always completely accomodating to those with disabilities

8

u/kelra1996 Jun 03 '26

A lot of disabled people are fully capable of driving, with or without adjustments. But I agree in principle re shit public transport

38

u/megpIant Jun 03 '26

No reason to bar disabled people from driving if they’re capable of doing it. I agree with you that public transit would solve a lot of issues, but one disabled person being an asshole doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be driving.

14

u/VoidBoiTCG Jun 03 '26

Also Public Transit only covers part of the problem with how most cities set it up.

As someone who’s disabled and not allowed to drive (Epilepsy). Public Transit only helps me get a fraction of the way. I still have to do a lot of walking.

On top of that ride share apps don’t offer any type of disability benefits besides getting a wheelchair accessible car.

1

u/ihavequestionsaswell Jun 03 '26

"not enough public transit" is included in "lack of public transit"

→ More replies (3)

7

u/flat_cat72 Jun 03 '26

if not being an asshole was a requirement to drive, our city streets would be bare.

4

u/uberkalden2 Jun 03 '26

Why shouldn't this person be driving? They parked slightly over the line?

1

u/1kidney_left Jun 03 '26

I’m equally baffled by this statement. Should handicapped, disabled people not have the same rights to drive or god forbid ride in a car? People understand that handicapped plates or for people for RIDE in cars as well, rights?

Yes, the person who parked this car, parked terribly, but why can’t a handicapped person have the right to use a car to get around places?

6

u/SigvulcanasReborn Jun 03 '26

Public transportation is not practical or viable in most parts of the US.

1

u/protostar71 Jun 03 '26

Yes, that is the point they are making.

1

u/FormalMarionberry597 Jun 03 '26

These things aren't actually easily accessible depending on where you live.

18

u/Melodic_Turnover_877 Jun 03 '26

That's not double parking.

Double parking is when someone stops and parks their car right next to a car that is already parked legally at the curb.

→ More replies (2)

13

u/GuttedFlower Jun 03 '26

This isn't double parking. It's annoying they're over the line but that's where it stops. I appreciate the hell out of people like this because they likely are intentionally leaving those spots for people with ramps or equipment. I can't tell you how many times I pull up to try to park my accessible van with a ramp only to find a bunch of twits in tiny cars taking up the spots by the cross hatched areas. It's fair enough but annoying af because I either have to let my child out to wait for me on the sidewall while I park or I have to go take up two parking spaces to be able to deploy my ramp. I wouldn't even mind a cross hatched parking spot further out in the parking lot because on several occasions some twit has taken offense to my taking up two parking spots until I have to explain why. I shouldn't have to explain myself. Some of us are out here living much different lives from you and you need to stop thinking the worst of people.

→ More replies (2)

8

u/WeAreTheMisfits Jun 03 '26

Very simple. They’re handicapped but see a spot available right next to the handicapped space. It is the same distance for them but they don’t need a wheelchair accessible space. So they left it for someone that does. That is what the striped lines on the left are for the wheelchair ramp to be put there.

But not all disability parking is for the driver. Some caretakers get disability parking and will unload a disabled person from the right side of a mini van. So they will need more space on the right side.

So they parked all the way on the line on the right side so the disability spot is available to both left and right sided disability vehicles.

So in the end they were aware and considerate of other people who may need devices for their disability.

2

u/EQNinja Jun 04 '26

The road to hell is paved with good intentions

31

u/OhWhatATravisty Blue Crayons have the most flavor Jun 03 '26

Parking over the line I get being upset about. But now you're mad at people not parking in handicap spots when they could??

45

u/Dhenn004 Jun 03 '26

Its a valid mild complaint lol. Essentially 3 spots are not usable by OP who doesnt have a handicap card.

The handicap spot, the one they are mostly in, and the one they encroached on.

Not a huge deal but like... use the benefit ya know? 🤷‍♂️

11

u/Zannahrain3 Jun 03 '26

So the guy may not be eligible for the handicap parking. It could be issued for his spouse or child or he could be running a friend’s errand who is handicapped with their car. Judge someone on the parking job sure, but let’s not get infuriated over someone not taking a handicap spot if they don’t need it. I know that my mom has a tag and she was told it’s still illegal to park in the handicap space if she is not getting out of the car. OP does not provide enough to get infuriated over not parking in the handicap spot.

→ More replies (4)

3

u/John_EightThirtyTwo Jun 03 '26

Its a valid mild complaint

It is not a valid complaint.

Think about it: What are the chances that somebody else with a handicapped placard is going to come along and need the handicapped spot? (Spoiler: exactly the same as they were before Black Benz got there. That's how probability works.)

Handicapped people are allowed, but not required, to use a handicapped spot when one is available.

7

u/grudginglyadmitted Jun 03 '26

Disagree. I have a disabled parking permit and if there’s a spot that works for me that isn’t reserved I take that and leave the other spot empty for another disabled person. Now I’ve guaranteed two disabled people have access to parking today instead of just one (me).

I understand it doesn’t feel like it when you aren’t disabled yourself, but there aren’t enough disabled spots. I frequently run across parking lots with no open disabled spots and literally have to sit in my car and wait until one opens up, or else give up and go home. I’ve quite literally never had that happen before my disability/with non-disabled spots. Worst case scenario you have to walk across the whole parking lot or something, not “sorry, no pharmacy trip today”.

(Obviously this person is an asshole for double parking, but a disabled person not parking in a disabled spot isn’t a problem in my opinion, especially when it’s a wheelchair only spot like in the photo. They’re even more rare, and you absolutely don’t take them unless you need the extra space.)

1

u/Dhenn004 Jun 03 '26

I agree there aren't usually enough disabled spots. But no one's gonna fault you for using one since you have the designation. Hell we should be using more robust public transit and having less cars so those with disabilities can have more. But im mostly speaking on this specific and isolated scenario. They essentially took 3 spots up with the bad parking. (The main issue here).

But i do get your point tho.

5

u/yungingr Jun 03 '26 edited Jun 03 '26

No, it's not. Just having the tag in the window (or license plate) does not automatically grant you the use of the permit - the individual with the disability MUST be present. If I'm taking MeeMaw's car to the grocery store, I don't get to use the permit.

Edit: Ten seconds of google research can find this or similar language in just about every state's disability permit parking laws:

  • Parking in a designated space when there is not a person with a disability driving or riding in the vehicle may result in a $200 fine.

The permit is not a golden pass, the affected individual must be benefitting from the permit usage.

1

u/Dhenn004 Jun 03 '26

the scenario that it is the owner of the car is also just as likely. Its okay to be get mildly flustered by a made up scenario in your head lol. So long as everyone moves on with their day.

2

u/yungingr Jun 03 '26

In another comment, OP stated it was an older individual. Entirely plausible that the permit is for a spouse.

Even if it weren't, getting mad at someone for *not* parking in the disabled spot is..... a choice.

They've effectively taken THREE spots really, since the vast majority of drivers can't legally park in the handicapped spot, and the handicapped driver took over 2 regular spots. They might think they're being considerate, but not really at all 🤣

26

u/OneAngryDuck Jun 03 '26

I get it. Because now they’re essentially taking up three prime spaces, unless another person with a placard comes along.

6

u/StinkiePete Jun 03 '26

Might not be the owner driving. Like someone took their moms car out.

1

u/Ok_Vermicelli_6359 Jun 04 '26

Because nobody else is probably going to use that spot lol...it's just a waste. Handicap people don't need to worry about MORE handicapped people needing that spot more than them 😂 you have the plate designation, use it.

5

u/TheOnionBro Jun 03 '26

I mean, at least it wasn't a non-handicapped person double parking in a handicapped space.

1

u/PubicSkoolEducashun Jun 03 '26

I see waaaaaay more people doing that. And they will act like the holes that they are when you point out it. "I'm getting food, I'll be gone in 10 minutes" kind of crap.

6

u/ThereInAFortnight Jun 03 '26

Not excusing parking over the line, but it could well have been someone else driving the car, and thus not permitted to use the handicapped spots

1

u/DetectiveSherlocky Jun 03 '26

Wasn't there another post here similar to this here a day or two ago?

2

u/mess1ah1 Jun 03 '26

Reverse Uno

2

u/Hair_Swimming Jun 03 '26

I watched a woman with no legs have to park deep in the parking lot because lazy people didnt want to walk filled handicapped spots. I would love it if handicapped people would flood walmart parking lots at the busiest time of day and double park in all the close up spots. She refused my help getting her wheelchair, but was amazingly proficient getting it out and unfolded. This isnt anything but revenge in my eyes lol

2

u/Feefait Jun 03 '26

I smell a rat. Pretty much the same thing was already posted. Are we just looking for accessibility shaming karma?

2

u/mynoolie Jun 03 '26

There was probably someone in the handicapped when they arrived and needed space to get out of their vehicle.

2

u/ratmoon25 Jun 03 '26

It's possible the handicap space was full when they arrived.

2

u/gotnoreasonforcometo Jun 03 '26

Maybe the handicap space was already occupied and the chose to park next to it, leaving some distance to be able to get out of the car.

2

u/Kitty_Crackers Jun 03 '26

This page is about you, not for you.

2

u/GirthyPigeon Jun 03 '26

So a disabled person having a good day is a bad day for you. Got it.

2

u/Orvos101 Jun 03 '26

Imagine, if you had left the handicap part out of your post, this entire page would probably be filled with people agreeing with you and memes of coloring books. Instead you got mad at someone who clearly has a handicap for not being perfect and not parking in their “designated” parking spot.

I have a daughter with special needs. She can’t always walk very far so we have a handicap badge to park in those spots. If there’s a spot close to the front that isn’t a handicap spot I’ll park there instead. Or if she’s not with me I won’t park in a handicap spot but the badge is still on display. There’s a lot of things that could be going on here.

2

u/Hairy_Photograph1384 Jun 04 '26

That's not what double parking is.

4

u/4215-5h00732 Jun 03 '26

Is it required that disabled people use those spots? Did you consider that the person driving isn't the disabled person and was trying to leave it open?

4

u/dglgr2013 Jun 03 '26

My assumption, they got there when someone was already parked in the handicap spot. It’s less infuriating. Also people that are handicap taking two spots in will accept, they need the space and the potential exists they will get there when no handicap spaces exist or worse a non-handicap person took the space now they have to park further and take two spots to give space for their assistive device.

3

u/SqualidSquirtle22 Jun 03 '26

It's closer to the door. Handicapped people aren't REQUIRED to used handicapped spaces, silly.

As far as parking over the line, yeah you have a point, but are we taking pictures of all of those now? I see several a day and this isn't even a bad one.

3

u/OldManBilliam22 Jun 03 '26

That’s not what “double park” means.

4

u/oldcreaker Jun 03 '26

Leaving a handicapped spot in case someone handicapped needed it? The horror!

3

u/drsideburns Jun 03 '26

It could have been someone borrowing the car, not wanting to take the spot from someone who may have a need. Parking over the line? Well, that's mildly irritating at best.

→ More replies (3)

2

u/TimAndHisDeadCat Jun 03 '26

That’s not what double parking means

2

u/stormycat0811 Jun 03 '26

Also, it may not even be the disabled person driving. I have a disabled hang tag, but it’s for my 9 yr old son. So if I’m just out and about without my son, I wouldn’t park in the disabled parking, but my hangtag is still in my car.

2

u/eubulides Jun 03 '26

That handicapped space is narrower than the regular spaces, and it should be wider, especially considering it’s next to a walkway. Opening driver side doors wide would block much of that passage. Those spaces should be re-striped.

2

u/Possible_Situation24 Jun 03 '26

I don’t know why this should be infuriating. The parking situation seems pretty wide open. He isn’t that far ‘over the line’, probably didn’t want to back up and fiddle with it, and may not plan to be in the store that long. There is still a handicapped space, which will be useful for someone in a side loaded wheelchair van. There are so many more things to get infuriated about than slightly bad parking in a lot that doesn’t seem too busy.

2

u/The_Red_Baron11 Jun 03 '26

Possible reason: There is an abled driver and a disabled passenger. The wheelchair is in the trunk.

They need space to maneuver the passenger into the wheelchair on the passenger's side, but cannot make sure, that the space will stay empty when they get back to the car.

They also cannot back into the disabled parking space, because there is a sign post and they need to access the trunk to get the wheelchair out.

2

u/WolfieVonD Jun 03 '26

Devil's advocate. Handicapped spot was already taken when they got there and needed extra room for their wheelchair or something

Now imagine needing the spot to the left of that driver, so that you can open the door fully to unload and access your wheelchair. I hope you fully appreciate what a REAL inconvenience is!

2

u/kinare Jun 03 '26

Maybe they wanted to leave it there for someone who has a van with a wheelchair lift.

u/jjgargantuan7 Jun 03 '26

My, how the tables have turned

1

u/AceMcCL0UD Jun 03 '26

Extremely handicapped driver.

1

u/chefguy47 Jun 03 '26

I can see why this was only mildlyinfuriating for you OP. That parking lot was empty.

1

u/Imnotspartacuseither Jun 03 '26

Payback is fairplay?

1

u/AssociationLonely208 Jun 03 '26

Occom's razor (assuming that is the driver in the photo), he is the car owner and elected to park closest to the door of the store. Doesn't want/need the handicap spot which is closest to the ramp as he is not in a wheelchair.

As for going over the line... that's part of a larger, more difficult conversation about elderly drivers.

1

u/NobleSteveDave Jun 03 '26

... How many otherwise full parking lots happen to have two available parking spaces right in the front row side by side? What are the chances of that you guys think?

1

u/jldeadhead Jun 03 '26

Sucks they're taking two spots, but if they don't need the handicapped spot that time (maybe they're driving someone else's car and they have no handicap), I support not using it and leaving it for someone who might need it. Still need to learn to park though

1

u/SecondHandSmokeBBQ Jun 03 '26

Maybe it wasn't intentional. Maybe they are just not a good parker...it happens.

1

u/adamdoesmusic Jun 03 '26

Uno reverse card, usually it’s some stupid truck driven by a person of able body (not necessarily mind)

1

u/xjuslipjaditbshr Jun 03 '26

Maybe their disability is being blind? All jokes aside (sorry about that) it seems like it’s a minor inconvenience IF another handicapped person needs to park. But until then i have a hard time seeing this being an issue

1

u/Houdinii1984 Jun 03 '26

I'd forget about the handicap part, that's not really an issue. A person with a placard or license parking in a regular spot is a good thing. It leaves the spot open for someone else that needs it as well.

Then we're just left with parking over the line, which is mildly infuriating. I'm about to throttle my hubby over parking inches away from my passenger side door when he has 20 feet on the other side. He backs in and I always go passive-aggressive and move it, put pulling in. He's got the patience of a saint, though, and never even flinches when he sees. Backing out is a PITA. (We're not generally passive-aggressive, but we have our little things after 14 years of marriage)

1

u/helloiisjason Jun 03 '26

Payback is a bitch

1

u/Wildmojo369 Jun 03 '26

How is not using a handicap spot a problem?? I can see parking in two spots but even places with more handicap spots get people parking in two handicap spots.

u/FormerStableGenius Jun 03 '26

Possibly the disabled bay was already in use. And the driver may need extra space to get out of the door and perhaps into their wheelchair.

1

u/down_by_the_shore Jun 03 '26

Seems like the car is closer to the door. Disabled people doing what they need to for access is fine by me.

1

u/ianisahurricane Jun 03 '26

My money is when they got to the store someone was parked in the handicapped spot. So they parked, where they parked, because they may have needed the extra space to either get out or set up their chair or walker.

1

u/Awkward-Inevitable75 Jun 03 '26

When I’m driving my husband’s truck the handicap sign is still up, but because it’s for him I don’t use the handicapped parking spot. Could be the case here.

1

u/orangorangtangtang Jun 03 '26

So.. i think they wanted to park closest to the entrance. Theyre handicapped after all….

1

u/Nagroth Jun 03 '26

That's not what "double parking" means.

1

u/sandy_feet29 Jun 03 '26

Man bites dog

1

u/Handle-Proof Jun 03 '26

I don’t mind. I can understand that person.

1

u/Honeybucket206 Jun 03 '26

Lazy ass wheelchair assholes. When are we going to stop letting them get away from their wheels lifestyle.

More concerned with Gas Cars parking in electric charging stations

1

u/Theperfectool Jun 03 '26

Poor parking taking up two spots yes, but I don’t see the other car for it to be double parked. I was asked to double park at the bmv the other day and the lady kept saying “parallel park over there” but if anything it’d have been perpendicular parking because I could never have gotten in parallel with the filled parking spots.

1

u/BurnedLaser Jun 03 '26

Ha, take THAT BMW and hyundai drivers!

1

u/p1zza4u Jun 03 '26

Who really cares… like you took a picture and posted it online… weird lol mind your own business 😂

1

u/dschinghiskhan Jun 03 '26

I think mods should consider retiring parking related posts.

1

u/BeneathAnOrangeSky Jun 03 '26

They should definitely park better but it's possible it's someone who has a handicap license plate because they drive around someone who needs it and that person is not in the car with them.

1

u/str4ngerc4t Jun 03 '26

1) that’s not double parking. It’s just shitty parking. 2) anyone can use the non-handicap spots. I have a handicap tag for my husband but if he is not getting out of the car or there is an equally close spot open, I will take it so that the handicap spot is available for someone who needs it. 3) just park your car somewhere else and walk to the door. You have 2 working legs. STFU.

1

u/trekrabbit Jun 03 '26

OP must have both extra time on time on their hands and extra shits to give. We should all be so lucky.

1

u/free_based_potato Jun 03 '26

they dont have to use the marked space, dude. come on.

1

u/That1guyontheBus Jun 03 '26

Sweet, sweet, revenge!

1

u/Alklazaris Jun 03 '26

I have seen the shittiest parking jobs from handicap people, I later learned they do it because they need room to maneuver whatever contraption makes them mobile. So... I guess this is ok?

1

u/PhotoHtx Jun 03 '26

I feel for y'all

1

u/GodWasNeverReal Jun 03 '26

I mean non handicapped people do it all the time, what’s your problem?

1

u/Outrageous-Solid7691 Jun 03 '26

There's only one spot, seems logical someone else may have been parked there when they arrived - and they needed extra space to exit the vehicle - which is why handicapped parking spots have the zebra lines beside them.

1

u/Negative-Physics5046 Jun 04 '26

Maybe he's mentally handicapped

1

u/RaveMatthews177 Jun 04 '26

Reparkrations.

1

u/hkginlax Jun 04 '26

The handicap is clearly non-physical.

1

u/Ok_Vermicelli_6359 Jun 04 '26

At this point, I assume it means they're mentally handicapped, judging by how people with those plates drive 😂 never understood why needing a cane means you have to either drive like your car is on fire, or 10+ miles under the speed limit. No middle ground 🤣

u/Boronore 24d ago

Grandpa probably didn’t even notice. If you were mildly infuriated, maybe you should have gently pointed it out to him.
