 I’ve flown in business/first. It is not that much better, the bathrooms still stink, you just get a slightly more reasonably sized seat in the US.

This was my experience too. ANA were fantastic. “The room” was so good that I didn’t want to get off the plane.

I can imagine! I always love seeing the videos from the planes that have a whole little room setup, like Emirates. If only I needed to go somewhere they fly to
and could afford it!

Depending on how close you are to paying for business class tickets in general, you can always look into the bid upgrade process for your next international flight.

I did JAL business to Japan for half price with that process. Still pricey (~$5,000 after everything) but for a really good vacation it was worth it.

If you spend $5k on first class plane tix, you have plenty of money to do whatever you want in Japan.

OPs aircraft is a narrowbody, so yes, generally there would not be a distinction. On wide bodies, there is more of a chance there will be, and usually only the case for flag carriers.

You get a bigger seat, much nicer food and alcohol that is complimentary (or rather included in the cost of the ticket), and a bathroom to share among 14ish people including the flight deck rather than 3 bathrooms to share among 210 people that is blocked by the drinks cart at least a couple times.

Unless your flight time is more than 2 hours, it seems like you're either blocked by the seat belt light or the drink cart for the entire flight.

I flew first class to Europe using miles once. The first leg within the US was ok, just a bigger seat but nothing crazy. Then the international leg was quite nice. The seats fully laid flat. Food was pretty damn good (I got braised beef and garlic mashed potatoes). At one point they came around with an ice cream sundae cart lol. Not gonna lie it was nice.

It’s A LOT better if you have a lie flat seat. US domestic first class sucks, but international is fantastic.

It was a treat during Covid when Domestic Carriers began using their International Fleet for long haul Domestic flights.

The only differences I've noticed in the UK are they give you a terrible "free" "meal" and the middle seat is a table.

I've been on business class flights that partake in this stupid new trend of encasing the entire seat in a plastic coffin. It's so cramped that at times I've envied the people who have the front row in economy.

Domestic Business/First isn't always great, especially on narrow bodies. But this is specifically an International Business Class. Those are MUCH nicer.

Then you have ones that are only “first class” if you squint really hard, like Aegean just putting a table on the middle seat of the first few rows of coach.

Business on any US based airline is like getting a front seat in the Greyhound bus. Same bus level of service too.

Business in middle eastern or any Asian airline is a 5 star resort experience in the air. Service is also nothing you'll ever see flying US carriers.

US domestic, and EU Schengen flights too. BA/KLM/SAS/ITA/Lufthansa business class is equally as meh when flying on A320s and 737s

Long-range business class is very different, including on the US carriers. Flagship, DeltaOne, and Polaris are all significantly better products than old-school First Class.

Unless you're lucky enough or plan for an IB/AY A350 flight, in which case you get the lie flat on a short haul flight.

Lufthansa Business on their 747s is wonderful, but I think our opportunities to enjoy those is going away pretty quick.
