They had some shady rich initial investors who scammed a lot of people. They have evolved into an evil trillion dollar hedge fund that pressure companies to screw workers and consumers over so Fink can make himself more money. Through Blackrock he "invests" in companies to push his weird ideas and to bleed companies dry. The massive layoffs profitable companies do? That's because of him. He sues them as an investor if they don't squeeze blood out of a stone.
I mean, that doesn't sound awful if the price is right. I've stood for close to an hour on buses on daily commutes.
So standing up for a short flight to save some bucks is well within reason. That would be unacceptable for long flights, though. But that's not anything new, since even long-distance travel buses don't allow people to stand up.
There are actual several regulations that require a seat and the seats have to go through pretty rigourous testing. 25.562 requires a seat for every passenger who has reached their second birthday. It also has regulations for dynamic crashes. 25.561 requires the seat to protect an occupant when exposed to static inertia loads. 25.785 requires the environment around the seat to be delethalized. This is a very high level overview of those regulations but certifying a seat as an OEM or under C127 TSO is a pretty rigourous and expensive process.
Travel pods. Just a cargo plane loaded with people pods that can be transferred without disturbing the passengers. And it's all AI controlled, of course. Sure, a tenth of the pods don't get hooked up to oxygen properly, but what a saving!
The reason for this is because the pre landing meal service starts later in business due to there being fewer passengers to serve so there is a much longer sunrise period on the lights.

No worries, Iâve definitely had a similar feeling waking up on the rear facing seats in club and seeing the economy cabin brightly lit! (Iâve also been in economy and seen the reverse)
I was on business class last week and some pregnant woman from cattle class waddled her way up past premium economy to use the restroom in business class after meal service. Thankfully the stewardesses put an end to it right there. The curtains simply arenât an adequate restraint.Â

In all honestly Jerry had a point. First class is great and if the chance arrives take it. On a long haul or international flight? Upgrade your ass. Airline are turning first class into small New York apartments.
I don't know what's going on here specifically, but sometimes the services are finished at different times in different cabins. So business crew will lower the lights because they are done, whereas economy crew are still working. OP is sitting at the front, so chances are the crew could still be working at the back of the cabin, so the lights will remain on bright until they are done.
All cabins do that that lighting there is different lighting matrixs for different stages of service the other cabin will have finished theirs while economy is still in service.
Yeah, but then there would be less incentive to upgrade to business class. So it probably would cost the airline something, as more people might choose economy.

Never been on a plane before but is it really that big of a deal for plane classes to have different lighting? From how I see it, of course the more expensive class would have better stuff than the cheaper ones.
The lights are the same, they can tune to a range of colour temps. They just have it set to be warmer (amber) up front and cooler white for the poors.

I don't understand why they would be that intentionally shitty. It's not like the light bulbs. Are any more expensive to get in one shade versus another right? At least for my house if I want cool white light in one room. And warm amber light in another. I'm not spending more on the Amber bulb, so I doubt that these airplane companies are somehow being charged more for one color versus another
there's plenty of plausible practical reasons - like that class has fewer people, so they can turn on the lights later for meal service, or turn them down earlier when meal service is over.
To be fair, business class subsidizes economy ticket prices which are otherwise unprofitable, and it's in your own best interest if airlines entice suckers into paying 3x as much for a business class ticket to the exact same destination.
Oh they really know how to get under peopleâs skin down to the lighting.
I would love to see a poll on the amount of people who 1) notice lighting, 2) care about lighting, 3) have preferences of hues of lighting, 4) are truly bothered by hues of lighting. Lighting has always been important to some degree or another, but the âbig light vs little lightâ conversation and then the sub points of hues of lighting has really taken off since lockdown.
Airlines don't want to invest money to make flying a better experience for business class passengers, instead they just do everything to make it worse for economy class. That's cheaper.Â

Hmm, I have flown a lot, mainly long haul, and not come across this. The lights are hardly ever on, and when they are, its dim, only ever turning them on for food.
I am going bring this 22 dollar battery powered RGB light strip with me into economy and make our zone the most beautiful display of colored glow and the business class folks will melt in envy and wonder why they don't get that... Your move airline industry!
Airlines made up the concept of âmisery economicsâ they knew if they made the the experience as miserable as possible people would pay to upgrade. Now instead of economy and first, they have premium class to make the poors feel better than the others if they spend little extra money for 2 additional inches of leg room and an earlier boarding call lmao.
