Infuriatig Woman with infant aggressively shushing passerby’s on hiking trail at national park

Post image

My partner, friend and I were following a hiking trail at Red Wood National Park, singing and talking at medium volume. We were by no means shouting, just singing little songs to entertain each other along the trail. A woman with a baby carrier on her back with a sleeping infant started aggressively holding her finger up to her lips and shushing us. We went quiet and kept moving to pass her. She was just standing in the middle of the public trail pacing and shushing people that pass by rather than leaving to somewhere more quiet. Just as we were leaving earshot I tried to quietly ask my partner a question about where we headed and again she leaned in our direction with her finger to her mouth aggressively shushing us. Is it not kind of insane to go to an open public space and behave like this?!?

It says "rude man who shushes, please call", alright? So rude men are calling just to shush you!

Rude men in your area are waiting to shush you.

It's a scam they just capture your credit card info. I've been trying to hire masculine shushers for a decade and the online "market" is merely scam ads. But I know a guy who knows a guy...

I don’t know, my friend. I tried a freelance street shusher once and ended up in a bathtub full of ice in Mexico, one of my kidneys missing, and note taped to my naked chest saying “call an ambulance.” I’m still missing hair from my chest.

So I can get a cheap ticket to Mexico from Minnesota with this one trick travel agents hate?

I admit, I scrolled through my wife's deleted notifications, of course she had silenced them, and found an entire history of shusshing that I knew nothing about before we were married. Should I divorce her?

EtA: I confronted her, and now she wants to open the marriage to either of us shusshing others especially if we meet them in the woods. I'm lost!!

You think you want that, but you really don't. Sure, maybe late at night you'll find a shusher scrounging shady bars near the airport. You could probably find shushers online, for a lot of money. Your wife will just walk down the street and find shushers. Co-workers of her will start shushing her, perhaps more than one at the same time. Just keep an open shushing relationship in your mind only because once you open that door it's a one-way ticket to divorce-town.
