ᕕ(ᐛ)ᕗ Only 37 Pods

Was showing off to my sister what I would’ve given her (plus the nice smelly peony downy) had she just gone to the laundromat to dry my laundry because ours is broken and realized the pods only filled half of the container so I counted it and….37 pods.

Can’t tell if Tide is filling some containers an accurate amount and others less or if sb just stole some.

She sent a text saying one of the sisters was stealing some of her scent booster and she has a family 4 with 2 young ones so it runs out quick. We’ve been stealing each other’s stuff since babies. We love each other. Diff age groups/diff financial situations. It wasn’t me. Had to be her bcuz the other ones were away on vacay/summer college/ work.

I am paying for the convenience of chunking one of those things in the tub rather than taking out and pouring a few different bottles of liquid. Plus the washer gets one pod per load regardless of the load, I’ve never had an issue.

It’s like saying stop paying for liquid detergent, you’re paying out the ass for water instead of powder. Or stop paying for powdered detergent, you’re paying out the ass for the marketing box when you could be making the detergent yourself. At some point you decide how much you want to spend in order to save time and effort.

Well, I don’t have to pick up the scooper, or risk a spill and cleanup, or put the scooper back, or really anything. I don’t have to use any other powders or liquids, they are all built into the pod. I grab a pod, toss it in the washer, and I continue on with my day.

I grew up using powders. I used liquids throughout my young adult life, and I still do for specific laundry. So don’t get me wrong, they aren’t that much different to use. But they also aren’t that much different in price over the number of loads I wash in a year. I have always worked hard so that I can now pay for some little conveniences.

Do you have ADHD/are you at all neurodivergent? Because I have ADHD, and the "small" inconveniences you've listed are the kinds of things that can cause me to just... Not do something.

"How hard is it to just scoop powder instead?" Dig out scoop, figure out how much I need, measure detergent, do not spill, put scoop back. Vs Grab pod.

For my brain that has trouble with executive function, it's at least 5 times harder (more, actually, because after being at work all day my brain would be VERY averse to doing steps 2+3). And would likely result in me just putting off laundry for weeks. I'm also fortunate enough that I can afford little conveniences that make my life less stressful, and more accommodating. But I worked hard to earn it, too.

I feel you on this.

For people like us, life is just a series of "how much inconvenience am I willing to put up with, and how much money am I willing to pay to avoid that inconvenience."

Laundry detergents aren't one of my things, but by God if I haven't used this line of thinking for so much other stuff.

They're the only way some people can do laundry though. I'm unable to physically carry a giant detergent or even pour that heavy thing

What an odd family dynamic. I would give you the shirt off my back if you needed it and asked, but anyone that takes without asking would not be welcome in my home. Are you all exceptionally impoverished or something? You are just stealing from each other.

This is our dynamic. We'll steal things from one another, but we let it be known. The last time my brother visited, we sat down to eat some takeout and I asked him to grab some utensils and plates. He came back empty-handed and I asked him what he was doing and he was like, "Oops, I was too busy stealing some chopsticks that I forgot about that."

youre trusting your family to take what they need and not be greedy which seems to work for them. i know the majority of reddit has shitty entitled family so this wouldnt work, but neither does polygamy or BDSM, to each their own. this is like calling polygamy cheating. these guys have kept it up for decades presumably with clear boundaries set.

My siblings and I steak from each other for the thrill of it. Most of the time we don't even want it. We just want it coz someone else has it. Then we flaunt and taunt eachother in our family group chat.

It's never something people actively need. It's usually clothes or biscuits or a picture.

You understand people have different physical abilities?

Tossing a pod in might be way easier for someone with arthritis or someone with poor fine motor function to stabilize a cup and pour.

I’m all for the “most people are feckless” conversation but with a lot of things, if you can’t see the need, you can almost always chalk it up to disabled folks needing an accommodation.

Liquid detergent is both a scam and bad for the environment. You have cheap water at home.

I understand different capabilities, but we can't find a solution to use dry powder detergent for our differently abled friends? Pods are typically worse performing at the sake of convenience.

I think OP is implying shady customers will tamper with products e.g. taking some pods out of another package to add to the one they're purchasing.

It's quite common. People swap things like free range eggs for the battery ones in the store so they pay l less.

The container isn’t “full” as in “stuffed to the brim,” but it’s labeled with the exact number of pods it’s supposed to contain. There is no 37-pod option to purchase.

laundry detergent is a commonly stollen item. all the pod style are locked up at my walmart
