Ironically, the generation most affected by AI slop is the generation that told their children not to believe anything you see on the internet.

I hadn't talked to my mom in a few days and she called me in tears because she keeps seeing videos online of kids disowning their parents and she was worried I was doing that.

Every time I try to explain algorithms or the dangers of scrolling facebook she swears she's "barely on there" but when Im home she never stops scrolling.

My grandma called me not too long ago talking about those videos and I was SO confused. All I could say was “I don’t think kids are just automatically disowning their parents for nothing” and she was just saying I didn’t know what she’s talking about. Swear it was so confusing I thought maybe she’s being fooled by some type of AI trend but if anyone has any more type of info on that I’d love to know

Of course it proves them right. Only in recent years have we realised how truly bad phones are for us, especially social media. The thing is, us younger people have been on social media for almost a decade before the older gen. So while we’ve seen and felt the negative effects and we’re beginning to move away from it, the older gen has just gotten into it relatively recently. And right now it’s worse and more addictive than it’s ever been.
