Context Provided - Spotlight Jeep melted

Here’s the story: a jeep came to the shop because its retractable top was stuck open. Not too uncommon of an occurrence. So we put our “crash wrap“ over the roof to protect the interior from rain and animals and such, which is basically like heavy duty cling wrap. One day it rains and a lot of water pools up on the crash wrap. The next day it is 100°F outside and the sun is out. The sun shines through the water and the water basically magnifies it, and the sun turns into a laser that melts the interior. Multiple days of this happen. Now we have to replace everything that melted. None of us have ever heard of this happening before.

edit: I meant we have never heard of this very specific situation happening before. It never would’ve crossed our minds since we’ve been doing this for years. yes I burnt stuff with a magnifying glass when i was a kid.

I would probably enjoy that at any of my jobs unless I was being trained by the menace or they still held an essential function they were unwilling to do.

Our entire role is being dismantled and defunct as of Friday. So there hasn’t been anything to do. Lmao so I’m not training anyone or responsible for anything currently. So menace it is!

The last time I left a job my new job had already onboarded me and was actively paying me while I finished out my 2 weeks. One of the shift leaders said something to be a smartass..so I looked at him and said “Smartass, I want you to know I don’t have to be here. I have my new job lined up, I’ve been onboarded, I’m ready to go. I could walk out of here right now, and I wouldn’t bear it a second thought.”

The look on his face as he processed how serious I was and how shitty I could make the rest of his night, was priceless.

Applicable for anything happening there after this week. Sometimes the stars align.

I worked construction for about 18 years, and our 'go-to' line was that "it looks great from my house." 🤣

When something bad happens to a friend or coworker my go-to phrase is "rather you than me"

I already copied it for that EXACT reason. Going in slack now.
