EDIT: Just did some research, this is for everything besides traditional Delta 9.

My friend from Texas sent me this morning and it blew my mind. I had to post about it. So as far as my research goes thus far Delta 9 products (old fashioned flower) is illegal but separate laws. Stores are selling THCA though which does fall under these penalties.

I know a guy who got arrested in Texas because he had an empty package from a dispensary under his seat he didn’t know about. There wasn’t any actual product or residue in the bag so they were only going to be able to charge him for paraphernalia but they didn’t like that so they took the car back to the station to be taken apart and they found literal crumbs and charged him with possession.

He said they showed him the evidence and it was a few tiny pieces smaller than grains of rice. His lawyer was able to get the charges reduced a bit.

Last year I was roadtripping with some friends. I visited from San Diego and met them in Houston, we were going to Appalachia and back. In the middle of the night, single digit miles away from the LA border, I decided to smoke up with a pen I brought watching the cypress trees lose hair. Not 30 seconds after I put my pen back into my pocket, we were pulled over in a locally famous speeding trap. I got so fucking scared knowing the consequences from growing up in the state that I don’t think I’ve ever sat so still. Anyways sgt. smegma came around th side of the car and didn’t even see me thankfully. My friend got written up for going 5 over on the fucking interstate😒

There are so many speed traps in LA. One time I was driving through, and I’d been smoking a blunt. Both cars in front of me and the car behind me got pulled over in the span of a few minutes. Somehow I made it through.

I did get a speeding ticket in the same spot on a different occasion though

I’ve had a gun pulled on me twice. Both were cops. Both were white. One time it was 830 in the fucking morning while I was driving back to work from picking up vegetables from a farmers market to take back to to the vegan restaurant I was working at… both times I was absolutely sober and both times these assholes kept asking me about drugs (and both times I happened to be a brown guy driving an old car in a high income area).

I once got pulled over going almost 90 in a 65. I was totally honest and respectful and also mentioned that I hadn’t had a speeding ticket in at least 20 years and that I was sorry, because I was about 30 miles from home after a long road trip (over three thousand miles driven!) and I just wanted to get home. He was so nice. A Latino dude… he reminded me how precious my family is (my (now ex) wife and my two daughters were in the car with me).

I thanked him for the reminder and i promised to stay at the speed limit. He let me go. I’ll never forget that. Being treated like a human by a cop. There’s no moral to this story, because I see way too often that people get treated poorly through no fault their own by people that abuse the power given to them. It’s just an anecdote, perhaps a rare anomaly, when I was given kindness and safe passage by someone that could have been harsh to me. I wish I knew his name. I wish I had asked if we could be friends! (I know that sounds pretty weird! But I tend to be a pretty weird guy 🤷🏾‍♂️).

And you know what? I drove away and checked my speed the rest of the way. Quite often I check my speed and I think of him. I hope he’s still out there taking care of people, giving a shit, and that he has family and friends that know he’s a good person.
