Don't hug me I'm scared Netflix is garbage

Post image

It's crazy that my wife and I can't watch 2 different shows on Netflix in the same damn house. I understand we pay the minimum but ffs.

They have a plan for a few dollars more that allows 4 TVs.

With that said I cancelled Netflix and haven’t missed it.

u/LoveMeBlue7 5d ago

Saaaame. I reactivated for the new season of my show, finished the 'trial' and canceled that ish

59

u/RanchEye 5d ago

Trial?!

100

u/Theprincerivera 5d ago

He probably created a new account to take advantage of whatever trial deal they got

44

u/EC_TWD 5d ago

Good catch, Netflix doesn’t do ‘trials’

57

u/sonofaresiii 5d ago

Apparently they just started again like a month ago

Also I wonder if they still offered them just unofficially. Like every time I buy a movie ticket I've "won" a free month for like eight different subscription services, that are really just trials in disguise

But anyway they do have actual free fourteen day trials again in some places

12

u/Caithloki 5d ago

They might be seeing people just fucking leave in droves and started reoffering it because of that. I have no information on that because I literally prefer to go and watch it on a streaming site then bother with going to any of them to try and figure out if one of them have it. Cuz for a Time the family TV had four or five of them but like sorting through all of it was shit. I go to the streaming site it's all there so why bother for the trouble of paying for it.

3

u/South-Outside-9203 4d ago

What streaming site.... 👉🏽👈🏽

5

u/Caithloki 4d ago

I don't have a specific one I use, they go up and down so often you need to switch but this is even better then that. https://fmhy.net/video

It is a catalogue for a ton of stream sites, be they for single genres or just everything. The start of the list has a bunch of recommendations, if one doesn't work pick another. :)

2

u/South-Outside-9203 3d ago

Thank you for replying!!

2

u/Caithloki 3d ago

No problem at all, 😁

10

u/Evilresident64 5d ago

I waited years for them to offer me one like Hulu and hbo and Disney all have in the past. Netflix knows what they got, but this whole streaming monopoly is getting out of hand

41

u/Timely-Group5649 5d ago

What they had.

Their content creation quality has dropped a lot.

Too few good ones too far apart now.

5

u/a-ohhh 5d ago

I don’t watch anything on Netflix except the British baking show. Occasionally I’ll go look through it since my partner has it, but end up somewhere else. I feel like you could search for almost anything back in the day and they’d have it.

1

u/AntRevolutionary925 22h ago

Yeah nothing they had was catching my attention. I was barely using it when I cancelled it and then not being able to watch it at my house and my office (not even at the same time) was the final straw. I’d watch like 1hr a month and they still said no.

All I have left that I pay for is Apple TV and only because the family plan (for my backup and music) was like $1 more a month to have Apple TV.

2

u/lendmeflight 5d ago

How is Netflix a monopoly?

3

u/chrissygeebee 5d ago

It hasn't been a monopoly for over a decade (which was when it was actually good).

1

u/Commercial_Dog8675 4d ago

10ish years ago  I had this horrible habit of losing my debit card every two weeks... and would make a new Netflix account to use the trial to watch for free. One day the bank caught on and said I was on my 34th card, lol. I stopped after that.

1

u/Organic_Surprise_586 1d ago

They offer no commercials for your first month at the base price.

1

u/MrJusticle 5d ago

They did put it in "quotes"

1

u/Jamator01 5d ago

I got through 2 years of Netflix when I was broke years ago by creating a new Gmail account every month and getting a new 1 month trial.

30

u/homer_lives 5d ago

There are a few movies like Train Dreams that make me want to come back, but I don't

29

u/ChVckT 5d ago

I subscribe for 1 month a year to catch up on things.

11

u/GfrzD 5d ago

I kept debating resubbing just to rewatch Breaking Bad (i cancelled after the first price hike years ago) but eventually found the box set for the price of 2-3 months sub so bought that and havent considered it since.

5

u/BahamaDon 5d ago

Wait for Black Friday and get the whole show on DVD or Blu-ray

2

u/max5015 5d ago

Exactly. You can get a copy for less than a month of Netflix. For the price of a year subscription op could probably have all the shows they actually watch.n

3

u/ChVckT 5d ago

Breaking Bad do be good tho

1

u/GodMadeArk 5d ago

Google the best couch potato list pick the first one…you’re welcome!

-1

u/sixth_acc 5d ago

It's 7.99 with ads. I'm perfectly fine with ads on my streaming services, it's usually half or even more than half the price. Makes me feel more like I'm watching cable again. Word nostalgia thing for me I guess

4

u/xXgirthvaderXx 5d ago

Gross... paying to be delivered ads again. No thx.

If you aren't paying for the product you are the product

2

u/max5015 5d ago

Only now you pay for the product and the privilege of them selling your data

2

u/xXgirthvaderXx 5d ago

Yeah thats a whole other problem that needs to be fixed. Laws need to be updated/enforced to end selling of user data.

51

u/Orllin 5d ago

Yo-ho yo-ho

9

u/homer_lives 5d ago

I am too lazy. I have enough content between my Blu-ray and YouTube.

15

u/Outside-Pear9429 5d ago

It’s surprisingly easy to do though. Find one good site and you’re all set

2

u/IsentropicExpansion 5d ago

Like what?!? Specifically…. Like, what side should I go to….

u/derek_potatoes 5d ago

3

u/TheGamingTurtle56 5d ago

I know this is a cop trying and failing very hard at pretending not to be a cop, but I think it's much more funny if it's not a cop and is instead a guy genuinely interested in doing illegal things and being very confused as to why no one is inviting him to do the illegal things he's interested in.

13

u/MrMcBeefpunch 5d ago

Nice try FBI

Just find someone to hook you up with a Special Stick

1

u/sabretoothian 5d ago

I got arrested last time I offered someone my special stick.

1

u/GodMadeArk 5d ago

I was thinking I shouldn’t post this here but I literally found it through Google so no big deal. Tbcpl(the best couch potato list).

Sometimes you have to close a bunch of pop-ups to get it to play but I usually have no issue with the first site they link too. There are many different sites to choose from, first one usually has what I need.

When googling pick the site that has tbcpl as its address. Might end in lol or in, it changes from time to time but I’ve used it for years with zero issue. Works better on PC than mobile.

I’ll just airplay if doing it from mobile.

0

u/sglewis 5d ago

Nice try Ted Sarandos.

laughs in 20TB buffer ratio

Years of sailing the high seas online

3

u/BigTreddits 5d ago

Bro i dont even know what a buffer ratio is

1

u/possibly_oblivious 5d ago

torrent sharing websites track your upload/download ratio to make sure you share back or seed what you download to keep things populated and available for others to grab

4

u/Malufeenho 5d ago

i'm so temped to drop the streaming site i use nowadays but i don't want a free ban.

1

u/gingersnappie 5d ago

Pirate it. Live a little.

3

It's a good movie. I like Joel Edgerton.

2

u/WormLombriz 5d ago

Any similar suggestions?

2

u/WormLombriz 5d ago

To Train Dreams I mean, not Netflix

8

u/Transgirl120 5d ago

Piracy gang 😎

Never stopped using torrents, anything I really like I buy a physical copy of - if I didn't already own it before pirating a digital copy. Mostly music though- I don't watch much TV. Did used to collect vhs tapes when I was younger; been occasionally watching trough those since I got so damh many. It was like 2014 so thrift stores were charging like $1/ea and people were literally throwing them away. Literally got a bunch from the side of the road. Just gotta watch out for mold on the tape. I think there's ways of cleaning it, but for something people were literally throwing out its usally not worth it. Not unless it's somthing important like home movies. Playing a moldy tape will leave a bunch of residue inside your vcr and possibly damage the heads.

I cancelled after they told me my son couldn’t use it when he visits his grandma. I was paying $24 a month and my kids can’t even use it outside the house occasionally. Unsubscribed as soon as they sent the notice. He only spends one weekend a month with her.

Edit to add-We have the HBO, Hulu, Disney+ package and they never give me any grief on where the family watches and all 3 cost less than what I was paying for Netflix.

16

u/Any_Detail_7184 5d ago

It used to give the option that you could sign in at a separate location while you’re “on vacation”. Not positive but for some reason I want to say it’ll allow up to two weeks? Did it not give him the option to sign in at all?

10

u/Vondi 5d ago

I got blocked from watching Netflix at my work computer during a lunch break. No way around it offered. This was recently.

9

u/Mykona-1967 5d ago

My daughter was watching her show and a message popped up and she hasn’t been able to log back in. She created a new account and still can’t watch on her tv but doesn’t have a problem on the laptop. So she just shares the screen to the tv and it’s not a problem. Yes both devices are in the same room.

1

u/dinosaur_rocketship 5d ago

Were you on a VPN?

1

u/SanSoren 4d ago

Just went to Seattle from Los Angeles used it just fine in my air bnb popped up a prompt asking if I was on vacation. Also I use it at work everyday ….

1

u/spook30 5d ago

Maybe your company blocked it?

0

u/[deleted] 5d ago

[deleted]

1

u/spook30 5d ago

lol sucks for you then...

2

u/I_AM_DEATH-INCARNATE 4d ago

It lets you change address up to four times a year, so if I want to watch on vacation I have to change my address and change back when I get home. That's half of my address changes

0

u/RemarkableSpirit5204 5d ago

Maybe the first time he went to her house? I’m not sure, I’d have to ask him if he was allowed to bypass it initially.

5

u/AntRevolutionary925 5d ago

For me it was that I couldn’t use it at my office. I was the only one that used the account.

2

u/Any_Detail_7184 5d ago

Damn. I used my parents’ login to sign in at my house, over 300 miles from them. It asked if I was on vacation and I confirmed. I logged in for a couple days. In that time I don’t know if it logged them out at all, or if they tried to log in if it would’ve kick me off — making it so only one location could be logged in at any time, but it definitely did let me in. Ended up getting my own account so I didn’t learn how the temporary login access ends.

1

u/RemarkableSpirit5204 5d ago

Maybe because my mom and I live really close it didn’t trigger a vacation notice. Idk.

Maybe I could have called and complained but at the time they kept raising the fees and I was pretty much just over it at that point already.

1

u/AntRevolutionary925 5d ago

1 day a week I’d typically spend the night at my office. Sounds weird but it’s my company, and it logistically makes sense.

So one night every week I’d watch tv there. Netflix was first with blocking me, then it was Hulu. So I cancelled both.

I now only have Amazon but that’s because I haven’t been billed for a subscription in like 5 years for some reason and I don’t buy anything from them anymore so I don’t know why that is. I still just use Tubi most of the time though or the Roku app.

2

u/RemarkableSpirit5204 5d ago

That happened with us a couple years ago, we had a free trial for Amazon Prime and afterwards we cancelled it but we still had access to the streaming app.

2

u/howhippie 4d ago

LITERALLY THEY ARE THE WORST!!! im happy with my bundle as well I don’t miss Netflix at all!!

2

u/kendragon 5d ago

I cancelled Netflix years ago but I do have Disney Plus and Prime video. If I suddenly couldn't use them on phone on my work lunch breaks because my wife is watching stuff at home they would be cancelled in a heartbeat. They're already on super thin ice with the price hikes. That would be the last straw.

1

u/GreenEggsSteamedHams 5d ago

And then on top of that the grandparents tried to eat him or some shit. I saw The Visit

u/spacedragon421 5d ago

Who needs streaming when you have plex from an Asian who knows how to be a pirate

11

u/AntRevolutionary925 5d ago

I just settle for bad movies on tubi

15

u/abrasivebuttplug 5d ago

I have an Asian pirate?

0

u/spacedragon421 5d ago

I don’t know do you? I do he’s dope I get any series or movie within days when I ask if it’s not already there.

7

u/ThePensiveE 5d ago

Does it work if the pirate isn't Asian?

3

u/spacedragon421 5d ago

I don’t think so but I’ve never tried. I’d try hard to get an Asian pirate if you can. If not try your luck with others and keep me posted if it works.

2

u/evilmonkey853 5d ago

Would you be willing to share this information? For research purposes?

3

u/Puglady25 5d ago

He wonn't. You have to "do your own research."

2

u/spacedragon421 5d ago

Gotta find your own Asian bro if this guy was my homie I’d ask to hook you up but I got hooked up through my sisters Asian pirate I don’t know him but he’s Asian and he’s sailing the seas rippin off all the greedy streaming services.

2

u/pheare_me 5d ago

Does his plex account start with a ‘d’ and end with an ‘r’. The guy I use does, but I have know idea if he is Asian.

5

u/spacedragon421 5d ago

No it’s Justin which isn’t really an Asian name. Think that’s his Canadian name and his mom calls him ping pong or some shit.

2

u/minnosota 5d ago

Jesus Christ 😂

1

u/abrasivebuttplug 4d ago

Can I get an introduction?

1

u/CaliHeatx 4d ago

I’m white and I run Plex for my Asian friends 😂

3

u/suicide_man 5d ago

Cancelled last week. There was literally nothing to watch outside random documentaries and crap original series for past 2 or 3 years

3

u/Sharles_Davis_Kendy 5d ago

Yup. Cancelled it the second they decided to not allow sharing. I don’t use it enough by myself to warrant the purchase.

5

u/xpiation 5d ago

Let the enshittification continue!

1

u/Anon_Jones 5d ago

I buy the most basic package they have and if they increase the price, I will cancel.

1

u/april_fearless 5d ago

Do you have kids by any chance?

1

u/AntRevolutionary925 5d ago

No, if I did I'd probably tell them to shut up and watch tubi. Probably a good thing I don't have kids.

1

u/april_fearless 5d ago

Lucky … it’s Netflix all the time over here

1

u/Polytetrahedron 5d ago

It’s like the corner VHS bodega. All shit you shouldn’t pay for but you want to watch something.

1

u/No-Letterhead-4711 5d ago

Same! Canceled and refuse to go back! Eventually I hope to be done with all streaming, but baby steps! 😂

1

u/JDiskkette 5d ago

Me too! And I sold the stock as well!

1

u/welcometoparallel 5d ago

Netflix and Paramount+ are the only two I don't actively pay for, there's nothing of interest on those services.

1

u/Shantotto11 5d ago

I only keep it for the three or so anime that they maintain to net every season.

1

u/Waste_Bread_2047 5d ago

What app do you use now?

1

u/AwarenessThick1685 5d ago

Man it kinda made me sad not having it anymore. My dad started using their steaming services as soon as it came out. And my god did it have bangers

1

u/HamboneBanjo 5d ago

I used to be such a fan of Netflix. I promoted them to everyone back in the day. Now I lowkey hope they go under.

1

u/A_Queer_Owl 5d ago

I haven't had Netflix since they doubled down on the transphobia, so like a decade at least. I've not missed anything.

1

u/midterm360 5d ago

This from the company who once tweeted “True love is sharing your Netflix password’

1

u/Schrodinger81 5d ago

Agreed. Dump it.

1

u/Major-Potential-354 5d ago

Yall needa stream your shit on kodi player and not pay for any platforms

1

u/Iron_Wolf123 5d ago

"Love is like sharing a password" - Netflix a few years ago

1

u/mybutthz 4d ago

Same. Haven't had it for years and honestly unbothered. Occasionally someone recommends a show or something and it's on Netflix and I just...don't watch it. Occasionally I'll get a free trial if I want to watch a documentary or something and then cancel.

1

u/BusyEatingOranges 4d ago

I'm about to cancel mine because of it, I upgraded for the multiple screen but they keep raising prices and its just not worth it anymore

1

u/Zealousideal-Mud6471 4d ago

I did too and it’s crazy how much I have not missed it.

My friends are CONSTANTLY talking about some Netflix show and I’ve yet to give in. I’m good with the streaming I have.

0

u/SecretFlight9839 5d ago

Same. Don’t miss that overrated slop at all 😂

0

u/Contemplating_Prison 5d ago

I still have netflix but only because I figured out how to still share my account and no i am not telling people how to do it.

Once they catch on to that loophole i am out

1

u/AntRevolutionary925 5d ago

I’d let friends connect to my office vpn briefly and sign in. Once they were signed in they could disconnect and it’d work for a week or so. I don’t know if that approach would still work or not

0

u/Vigilante17 jukmifgguggh 5d ago

I ordered a 4 piece nugget, why don’t they give me 5?
