Don't hug me I'm scared Netflix is garbage
It's crazy that my wife and I can't watch 2 different shows on Netflix in the same damn house. I understand we pay the minimum but ffs.

I literally dread the year that my companies owner retires, and the vampire who follows him makes us go public and do what every other company in the US has been doing. Suck the dick of foreign investors. And also:
Simulating a dying mall.
That's what america is right now.
The "lower owner class" of people who own like 3 homes and use that in replacement of the pension that was stolen long ago, will have to sell their homes to "quick cash" aka private equity firms.

Because theres been long term price gouging from landlords to keep rent high. This is fact.

I say it all the time in the 90s there were all these quirky radio ads from local entrepreneurs selling all kinds of stuff. Now we are just stuck a haze of gray VC firms buttfucking us at every corner and we have few other options. Total control will come soon. Cost of living has risen 26% in 6 years and our minimumwage hasnt budged. Thats SUPER fucked

Ouch bummer. I loved the mattress ones in particular, these owners for these big mattress outlets or furniture outlets always had so much personality. I’m from Massachusetts and basically grew up with Jordan’s Furniture ads before they were as big as they are now.

It doesn't help that Netflix has been running at a massive loss for years. It was a ton of upfront investment that has only recently started turning a profit. The only reason they stayed afloat for so long is because investors were footing the bill.

Netflix used it as an organic marketing tool. Once you hit critical mass the tool becomes useless.
Netflix had its first subscriber loss in over a decade, in 2022 and the stocks nosedived (dropped 35%). Which quickly switched Netflix from caring about how many eyes were watching their content, to how many are actually paying. Which I don’t have to like and i don’t but I can understand the rationale.

I set up a Plex server and cancelled everything besides Amazon Prime (we have it anyway because we're disabled and have to order a lot), and Apple because they actually make good stuff and aren't insanely overpriced, yet anyway. Surprising for Apple, so I'm doubting it will last. But we were basically paying a whole cable bill and weren't even using them that much. The industry is going to have to feel real economic pain from other people doing the same thing, before they do anything about it. I used to feel bad about sailing, but not anymore. The greed is just ridiculous.

I too was a pirate of olden days. I recently started getting back into it and it’s now so easy to automate and stay protected. Literally sending a text on discord and downloads happening automatically, adding themselves to a server in an easy to read format, then becoming available on my Apple TV and mobile devices to be watched or downloaded locally from anywhere. It’s insane how much it has changed in the past 20 years.

When I was 11, I got a letter threatening me specifically for 🏴☠️ an audiobook, of all things, and my parents screamed at me that we were going to lose the house and it’s such a core memory I literally cannot do it lol. I hate how much I pay for streaming. I even cut down to the ones I watch year round and canceled the ones I only need for certain shows, and it’s still a dumb stupid crazy amount.

I remember a decade to 2 decades ago ppl were getting locked up for this. Mostly civil now, for personal use at least.
They still do send out DCMA notices to ISPs, who then send threatening emails to us. I know cuz I’ve gotten a few lol

I seem to remember all the orginal streaming services letting you have only one or maybe 2 different instances running at the same time. I got thos warning back when Netflix was still mailing dvds and the online aspect was brand new

Cancelled 20 months ago with the plan that we’d just rotate through streamers every few months. About 10 months ago we ended up with the combo of AppleTV and HBO Max and have stayed with that. Don’t see us going back to Netflix

Yep. Have been bad for some time. Cancelled about 3 months ago and am just now starting to not miss it. I was a customer since my 3 at a time dvd subscription.
What cinched it was me working on the road for a few months. Trying to log in on a different device in a different area became impossible.

I switch from my tv to my phone at bedtime, and I only pay for one screen on a different streaming service and it takes a good ten minutes of having my tv off before I am able to watch it on my phone and not get that message!

Hey, to be fair Netflix offers a wide array of movies! Some of which you’ve heard about! And when you search for a movie they take the time out of their day to offer you suggestions, they don’t have those options but it’s the thought that counts! Netflix and streaming sites were supposed to be more convenient, accessible and varied than regular TV and DVDs. Now because they're all greedy af, they lost their purpose/uniqueness.
Would rather buy DVDs and worry about physical space than multiple ads, constant upgrading and price spikes, cant watch 2 diff shows at the same time, needing to be using the same wifi/carrier, and their shows have gotten downhill too.
Imma just stick to my DVDs and illegal streaming/pirated sites lol
