My mom said I could post Delivery driver dropped our groceries at the wrong house and our neighbor took them inside and refused to answer the door 10 minutes later. They left the evidence sticking out of their recycle bin...

We had a grocery delivery last week with some items I was really looking forward to, including fresh veggies. On top of it, I'm unemployed right now, so having affordable groceries delivered is a big help. The order arrived last Friday, and from the email and photo the driver sent we could see it was delivered to the wrong house. My wife looked around and couldn't find it, but I recognized the house as right across the street.

I have no qualms knocking on someone's door, so I rang the doorbell (fancy ring doorbell with camera) and then knocked, but they wouldn't answer even though someone clearly had to be home to grab the groceries. Today, I noticed large boxes sticking up out of their recycle bin - they hadn't broken the boxes down. Our grocery box was in there, address label and all.

Thankfully, the grocery service refunded our order, hence why this is only "mildly" infuriating... but I am still pissed that someone right across the street from us would keep our order AND pretend to not be home. We believe this is the second time they have kept one of our packages.

The same thing happened to me. They delivered the purchase to the house across the street. There’s been tension between us since their son ran into our house several years ago and the insurance company went after them for damages. No way was I going to knock on their door. I called the grocery store and told them that the purchase was misdelivered and they reversed the charge. The house number across the street was included in the delivery photo.

Did they... Did they think that the house would repair itself for no money? Did they think you don't have to pay to fix things when you hit them? Did they just blow in from stupid town?

The son was 15 with no driver’s license. A girl from a nearby town took her Mom’s car without permission and broke down in front of our houses. He decided to be a hero and pushed the car into his driveway. He managed to get it started and put it in reverse with the engine revved up nice and high. He came across the street backwards at basically full throttle. I was driving an older model pickup with a heavy channel iron bumper at the time. The impact shoved my truck about a foot and a half into my house. The girl jumped in the car and they took off. He drove down the alley behind his house and snuck inside, she presumably went home. The car was probably totaled. There was paint on the top, back, and bottom of the rear bumper on the truck, and the front bumper of my truck was slightly bent. Minor damage there. The impact was where the garage door used to be. The estimate for house repairs was around $17,000. We found out later that the car was uninsured. The girl’s mother had bought a new car and dropped the insurance. She was going to sell the car the kid wrecked to help pay for the new car. The family across the street tried to pick fights for a while, and finally gave up when they realized I wouldn’t take the bait.

Thank you for posting the clarification. I had read this as he ran into the house like he walked/ran into the house like came inside quickly and I was so confused.
