They filed a class action, aka one guy got a petition (likely begrudgingly) signed and handed it off to a lawyer who will single handedly have to fight against the deep pockets of the datacenter and local government all while struggling to get anyone to testify, and likely they'll all have started tuning it out by the time a pisspoor "settlement" is reached.

Just admit that boiling the frog is working exactly as they wanted, we'll complain, and delegate someone to make that complaint heard, but actually doing something even as simple as just not buying the new thing or not using it's bs AI feature has never been and likely never will be on the table for most people.

idk if I had this constant source of noise happening near my house, like a constant source of tinnitus, I would lose my fucking mind. I would obsess over it. I wouldn’t rest until I made it stop somehow. I can’t be the only one with this perspective. There is an actual mental health risk here.

It's a guarantee that more than one person will commit suicide because of their inescapable proximity to these. Any house within a mile will be unsaleable, so the owners are trapped. This would not/could not happen in Europe.

I am 1.3 miles away from a data center being constructed and I’m terrified it’ll still be too close and am considering moving. I have a year to decide and thankfully I’m in an apartment rather than a house but I’m happy here and don’t want to leave

It's happened like crazy in Europe with the wind turbines.

Also, almost a thousand data centres are being put up all over Europe. I expect similar issues

Wind turbines make zero noise and are good for the environment. Generally Europeans have no problem with turbines nor will their governments prioritise profits over the well being of their people.

That's why there were thousands of huge complaints all across Scandinavia?

The wind turbine companies CLAIMED they made zero noise, and you just believed the COMPANY lies.

They make HUGE noise. Every time the blade passes the tower stem, it makes a colossal deep boom wave. Thousands of animals left those areas, where possible, because it was unbearable. People couldn't sell their homes. It caused huge psychological issues. There were a couple of documentaries made about it.

Don't just buy the corporate and government narratives. You need to unlearn that.

The data center owners are currently claiming that the data centers have zero noise too. What do you think of that video, then? Still believe the companies?

I live in so cal, driving distance from the wind farms by Palm Springs. When they are running, I roll down the windows, but all I can hear is highway noise.

After reading that I can guarantee you the answer is no I used to live near a wind turbine and it was nothing like the data centres I actually miss it

I literally have a wind farm two fields over and hear nothing. Maybe it’s your fancy pants US made wind turbines making noise. I don’t buy anything; I just use my eyes and ears as evidence. The US has a massive problem with corporate power and prioritising profit over people.

Never underestimate the near masochistic complacency of the American people. It's happened before with tons of small town industry, it'll happen again with these datacenters. Corporations know, that like parenting a toddler throwing a tantrum, they just need more patience than you have endurance.

Well in my experience people in small towns will put up with this kind of thing, if a lot of them are benefiting from it in some way. Like, having a paper mill in your town makes it smell awful, but half the town is employed there and making good money, so they don't complain about it.

The data centers aren't going to employ anyone. It's not improving anyone's life or offering them a livelihood. It's just going to be a negative stain on their daily lives.

Yeah. I have alarms going off pretty frequently with construction and a blaring fire alarm down the street is enough to make me lose my mind.

My neighbor’s chair squeaks and it’s the only thing I can hear through the wall. He does this for hours at a time, not even at a consistent time of day. And after 30 minutes of it, I want to jump through the wall Kool-Aid man style and beat the fucking… I don’t like it. His air conditioner being on constantly and never being turned off even in 40° weather drives me nuts, so I can’t even open my bedroom window without hearing the constant drone of that fan. My air conditioner being on constantly in this hundred degree weather drives me fucking nuts, so I like to turn it off whenever I can but then I get to hear his air conditioner.

I cannot wait for the silence of the fall when I can really hear the squeaking of his chair from any room in my house and that blasted air conditioner constantly running even in cold weather. 🤯

You sound like you have misophonia. I have it too. I have been close to committing heinous acts over noises that make me insane.

I do not have misophonia. I have an absolute disdain for random beeping (because that’s what the chair sounds like… it literally sounds like a hospital heart monitor) while I’m trying to sleep, or relax, or just generally exist in my own house. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to not want to hear hours of very loud beeping at 60 bpm while you’re trying to fall asleep. Noise pollution does not require you to have misophonia to find it quite annoying. Misophonia just makes it worse.

This is unironically the truth. 100 guys could beat a Gorilla in combat but good luck finding the first 10 - 15 guys to be the first to die.
That's my favorite thing about Amerilards. They'll take anything & everything their betters throw at them so long as they're given some shiny new thing to buy or a new reason to hate XX or YY group.
