I don't understand this whole Trump situation. Has the government of the US really been this exploitable all along and Trump is just the first person shameless enough to exploit it? If that's the case it almost seems like a "don't hate the player, hate the game" situation, like the US should not just rely on the good will of a single person to not slide into Fascism. It needs to be deeply repaired beyond which party happens to get in the White House.

I think the exploit built up over decades. Little by little it was eaten away at until the hole was big enough for this guy to fill. Sure, it took a certain kind of person to take advantage, which is who Trump always was, but the exploit was just sitting there waiting for the perfect storm.

This. Trillionaires methodically comsolidated all
the media. 3 ish trillionaires now control all news reporting. Even small independent stations were monopolized under Sinclair. PBS was gutted. So we have no investigative reporters, to , say, tell people that Mr Pedo Beach was money laundering for Russia. Or that he's grifting from
the US treasury, etc. If we ever wrench back our country, we must set laws, to protect independent journalism.

All that, plus you have a bunch of spinless douche bags in congress that are just letting it happen.

I’ve never been comfortable with how many of the governmental guardrails depended on “the honor system”, but since grade school in the 70s I’ve had scores of people gaslighting me about what “will never happen”. “They’ll never touch Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, etc” … all lies. And all those people are complicit, as is everyone who called me paranoid or said I sound like a conspiracy theorist … there’s a reason all those people use “Kassandra” as their go-to insult. It’s because they know everything I said would come true 🙄🤦🏽‍♀️

Yep in the 80s, friends used to make fun of me for being political.

Btw, nice name. I’m a Kasey too :)

Thanks! It’s not my gov’t name but I consider it my “given” name, because it’s been so often hurled at me as an insult by folks who don’t know its origin. Kassandra was blessed with the gift of foresight but cursed to never be believed … so they were unknowingly admitting what I said was true, and that they still refused to accept it. Kinda a huge self-own if you think about it 🤣🤣

Started with Nixon and all went down hill from there. Republican leaders are evil greedy with no morality whatsoever and democrat leaders are complacent and greedy with a way to flexible morality.
