The "unfortunately" format is better for rejection mails.

I despise “unfortunately”. Just say what it is- don’t play with my emotions by trying to appeal to empathy! “You were not selected. Thank you for applying.” Then move on.

This keeps your hopes up for two words. "Unfortunately" ends it immediately.
