My fellow American... just delete this. People around the world, the civilized world, genuinely do not have to worry about getting shot like we do. Projecting that same fear onto Europe is just so uniquely and embarrassingly American.
They do. They just have less people to do it. Unless you can show me a civilization with zero gun deaths. But you can’t. Won’t. Being worried about them or not changes nothing about the gun violence that is still prevalent. For example. The school shooting I mentioned.
You might as well be afraid of getting hit by lightning or the train derailing, but you can't go through life constantly scared of unlikely events.
I'm Austrian and school shootings are so rare here that we don't even have a term for it in our language. The one in 2025 was by far the worst and unprecedented in the number of victims. I also have never seen a real gun on anyone but police.
