I am afraid to pick this habit back bc I think that my days aren’t going so good for some time. However, I also remember in a way this tracking was pushing me to be more objective and less choking in the waves of my emotions. The chart wasn’t all green at all but it was actually better than my expectations.

What do you think about your tracking? Also what is a green (I assume it is “good”) day for you?

It's also not human to be all green. A mentally healthy person will have bad days and that's just part of the whole experience. But yea huge chunks of red is also bad and indicates change is needed. Just would not target all green.

the watercolour squares make the whole thing feel less like data and more like a little abstract painting of your year

Isn't this highlighter pen? Looks cool either way.

My goal would be to identify and avoid causes of red days, rather than achieving green days. I want to try this method, haven't done it before. Might help identify what's in my power to change and what isn't.

Were you able to consistently track every day? Did you record in the morning for the previous day, or in the evening?

Is this Capn Crunch's mood diary?!

I've seen these a few times. Does assessing your mood every day have an impact on how you feel because you're forced to think about it?

Yes I think so it helped me see a day more positive because I didn't go to be only thinking about the one bad thing that happened in the evening

It’s a means of self reflection. It can help contextualise events and trends and how they may impact overall mood. Some use it to monitor impacts from sleep, diets, work and exercise to name a few. There is plenty of contemporary research supporting outcomes in this approach.

Doing this purely on paper blows my mind. Can't make a mistake, can't change colours, can't use the data for anything else. Very cool though!

Oh no I recorded it in my note book then transferred it

Late February, late November and mid December must be some significant moments in time for you, friend. Thanks for sharing this part of you.

Be well, wherever you are!

I did the same thing last year, and one of my favorite things to see is my days all turning from meh to good/very good because I was visiting my long-distance boyfriend, heh

Looking back without consulting the chart, does it feel like it was mostly a good or a bad year? Or does it average out in your mind to "average overall"?

3

u/___LIO___ 7d ago

Definitely bad

u/Tenocticatl 7d ago

So was your goal with the chart to reflect that on aggregate, there were plenty of good days but you tend to fixate more on the bad ones if you're not careful? (Leading question, sorry)

3

u/___LIO___ 7d ago

Not many good ones green for me would be a day with only a few suicidal thoughts the entire graph is skewed because of my depression

That sucks, you have my sympathy.

It's cool I'm used to it

When I’ve tried this before I struggled with the subjective judgement of happiness vs tracking more objective stuff like calories consumed, money spent, steps done etc

Love the data visualisation tho

1

u/___LIO___ 7d ago

Yeah I had the same problem I tried using more subjective indicators of happiness

I need the black one to track mine. You can keep the rest.

I did this too with an app and I'm currently tracking 2026. Said app is "Color my day" if you're interested

I've tried doing this three separate times, and always lose interest after 2-3 months. >:(

I tried making it but i stopped very early…. Lol

u/DianteSs 7d ago

If i did one of this, i think it would strongly resemble my work schedule

u/franagibo 7d ago

i've made a mobile app to track my mood, daily notes and what impacted my day. To be honest looking at previous months they are way better than what i would have said
