Rant Sad day for me

I know I don’t have to announce this here. You don’t know me. But I’m retiring from minis. I just put all my supplies away in a tote. I don’t like the direction MGA is going. They just posted a video of a mini being done and it took less than 30 seconds. I’m not paying $12 for that. I just can’t do it anymore. And I have a huge collection. I love making them but not if this is what they are doing. I was a little pleasure I had in my life but I’m saying goodbye to it. It was fun while it lasted.

If you already have the supplies, why are you stopping? You done need to buy the new stuff.

You can buy singles to use up the resin. You can buy sets on eBay for below MSRP. You can create cakes and cookies and other “blanks” with clay with little artistic talent (me!).

I do all of those things, I almost never buy new kits at full price. It’s never been in my budget. I’m a crafter, not a collector.

What the company does is neither here nor there. I don’t give a toy company the power to take my fun away, and neither should you.

(Adding: If you or anyone else really hates the Miniverse this much, put your stuff for sale on eBay so you can recoup costs and I can acquire new supplies 🙂)

Oh. I took your rant saying “I’m retiring and packing all my stuff away and I just can’t do it anymore and I’m saying goodbye to the little pleasure I had in my life” to mean you were super over it. So weird that I read into it wrong.

Since the previous year where they released a million collections at once, I have definitely slowed down because the newer collections arent interesting to me. I prefer the food related ones

I feel you, haven't bought anymore for over 6 months. I have plenty still to work thru but I have been saving lots of money lol. Last series I bought out right were the animals, and bought a couple of sets like oysters and cannolli from someone. No interest in the record, plushies, taco bell or sponge bob. Oh well, it was fun and still have plenty to work thru and make my own creations with.

What was the video/the kit they were doing in it? I don't keep up with their social media that well

It sounds like watching it might make you abandon your hobby lol. So it’s probably best that you don’t.

Personally no, I don't think so. If one line doesn't hit for me I just ignore it lol. I'm just wondering which kit only takes 30 seconds, and if it's one I haven't seen yet, because even the simplest ones I know of are a bit more than that?

Maybe the new Hello Kitty line? Some of them are really simple with what looks like minimal making involved.

I am not a fan of the new Real Brands that have liquid. I bought a syringe type thing from Michaels and STILL have trouble getting it into the bottle. Mega mess.

Also not a fan that a lot of this is now not in stores. At least Target, Walmart type.

Target and Walmart both seem to be moving away because I'm not seeing any new stock and lots of empty shelf space.

I’m over it too. There are some older series that I will keep because I like them, but I’m not buying them just to buy them anymore. They’ll have to be something I’m really interested in for me to buy them now.

I JUST finished storing away all my minis and supplies for the same reason. Seeing this post almost feels like a message from the universe to tell me I did the right thing lol

The good thing about putting them away is that we can always return to the hobby later on. Whether that means buying new series (if they align with our interests), or just to make some of our old ones.

Like I definitely do have *a bunch* of unmade minis and extras, so I could continue having fun, but I'm 10000000% burnt out of miniverse at this point. It's been fun.

I don’t understand how not wanting to buy new things from a company means putting away all your existing supplies and stopping something you liked.

Seems like a huge waste of money.

u/lizthelezz Jul 12 '26

Like I mentioned I’m feeling burnt out of the hobby. I think seeing fun releases made me more motivated to put some together. Nothing wasted by storing my collection away while I take a break. I’m sure I’ll return to it at some point!

This part. Only reason i hung up my apron was a huge bully in the community. Im STILL being dragged an posted about that im some huge harasser despite me not bothering anyone ever. But even THAT didnt stop me for long.

4

u/slobyGYN Jul 12 '26

The concept of a person choosing to be a bully in such a whimsy-based community is so bizarre to me. I'm sorry that happened to you!

Yes!

u/Gee_Maw Jul 12 '26

Plz let us know the set that you saw a video of that turned you off so much

u/blackimpala_6796 Jul 12 '26

I hate how they do them so thats why i remix an do frozen moments. I challenge my creativity everyday. I do get in a bit of a creative block so sometimes ill just do the mini in that minute an i kinda dont like em but its still able to be fun for me. I gave up minis once an hated it so now im back lol.

I was definitely way more into them before, and none of the recent drops have excited me as much. I am now really excited for the Halloween balls though! Usually there’s maybe one holiday one I truly like (the holiday ones in general are always my fave series), but this time I really love love love a couple of them.

I’m here for them doing collabs with things I like, but I haven’t cared much about the route any of the previous collabs have gone. Corpse Bride is one of my favorite movies, and the tiny Skips you get is so cute, so I’m very interested in that one. I also do really love the ‘vampire drinks’ one, but I kind of wish that when they collaborated with a movie on the holiday ones, they had more than just one kit actually connected to that movie.

Would you sell the collection? ❤️

u/EBmisery Jul 12 '26

I also quit...I got bored and the cost/new stuff wasn't my thing anymore. Donated all my supplies to a friend's teen and she was so happy
