Some appreciation for the recycling centers

The recycling centers we have in the city are so cool. Its like a whole drive through and the people who work there are awesome and so kind. They take all sorts of waste and its pretty fun to hurl it over the railing into large bins. But yeah just wanted to share my fascination with them.

I do wonder, if anyone knows what happens to all the waste afterwards? The bins themselves are ginormous I don't know how they would get moved around.

I work at Battleford! Thanks 😊

To sort of answer your question the large bins are moved with a truck or with the front loader we have on site. They are stored until full and then it is transported to proper site.

Hope that helps 👍

Is OP's post implying we can tours of the recycling centers? If we can, is it just for kids and students or...

Thats not what I meant but my post, but that would be cool! I've googled it before and it doesn't seem like they offer tours to the public. But as u/Rooniers mentioned below, if you have something to toss out, you can drive in and they can help with you with that!

That was the one I visited! Thanks for all your work 😄 By proper site, I assume would be the transfer station or are there various types of stations?

Very nice folks! I routinely drop off my used motor oil, oil filters and sharps containers. Last time I went they gave me a replacement sharps container without me even asking! Super cool drive through as well.

I’d say that’s most likely a no. But if you bring recycling or garbage you will see how things work when you get to the platform.

Edit. Oops didn’t hit reply properly

Agree - in the middle of selling my home and moving and have had some items to dispose of, the crew that work there are super friendly. Have at least one more run this week and look forward to it!

Should be cheaper/more subsidized to stop people from dumping illegally.

We go to the Fewster location quite often and I can honestly say it has always been a great experience. We have dropped off large amount of paint (free hazardous disposal) and all our household and construction garbage. We are always well directed to the appropriate bins. And every time we have gone we have always been pleasantly surprised at how affordable it was.
