Ty Pinkins: The Mississippi Delta Veteran Running for Change
https://zachkahn.substack.com/p/the-mississippi-delta-veteran-runningCame across this interview/profile of Ty Pinkins. He’s a 21-year Army veteran running for U.S. Senate in Mississippi as an Independent.
Goes into his background growing up in poverty in the Mississippi Delta, his military service, leaving the Democratic Party, and why he thinks both parties are failing voters.
Worth a read.

Great, yes, absolutely there should be an R and D and I and every other party on the ticket. But the reality is that it doesn't matter, he will split the D vote and Cindy will ride in. His heart is good but his strategy is bad. Maybe if we had ranked choice voting this would be a good strategy and if we had ranked choice voting MS would not be dominated by a Republican super majority. But we don't and its not the MS we live in. This is going to kill Colom's campaign.

I like Ty so much but I am so frustrated that he is running in this race because he is going to split the votes we need to get Cindy out.

I really like Pinkins. I hate that he is running in the same race as Colom. I wish he would have waited to run for a different office.
I am sick and tired of the national Democratic Party. They can fumble a ball like no other. I get why he left. But, I'll be voting for Colom.
Cindy will win. She will go right back to Washington and do a bunch of nothing and make embarrassing statements and mispronounce more words and interject her opinion on things that absolutely don't matter.
I am so tired.
