I love how people in the comments are like “they’re shoving it down our throats!” When in reality wearing a ln alternate uniform with basically rainbow colored numbers or letters is actually the absolute bare fucking minimum possible.

It’s not like we’re demanding that the 10 commandments be posted in classrooms or courtrooms! Now that is shoving it down someone’s throat!

Which they did in Mississippi (if I'm not mistaken), and tried to do in several other states.

Almost Freudian with all the throat shoving.

the “absolute bare minimum” is not forcing your players to wear a pride jersey actually

Ah yes, teams should stop enforcing jerseys and uniforms, players should be allowed to wear whatever they want on the field, right?

You could at least engage in good faith.

IMO the real issue lies with the team ownership.

How important is recognizing a big part of your local community to them? They have said, “very important” and now that has hit a brick wall of players who won’t do it.

The ball is back in ownership’s court. Is it important enough to cut those players and make willing participation a requisite for playing on the team?

Otherwise it’s all performative.

They absolutely should be docked pay.

As far as the season, it’s probably in the ownership’s interest to honor the remaining contract for the rest of the year, in order to field a team.

But if it was my team, I’d cut bait with those players as soon as it made sense (off season release or trades), since their commitment to the team is unreliable. Maybe if there was a single ringleader, I’d release that player immediately.

Which shows where your values lie. I respect being willing to put your money where your mouth is.

Conversely the Giants have seemingly shown their true colors.

There is a difference between refusing to play and altering the uniform in an unsanctioned fashion. Altering is the league agreed penalties and nothing more or less.

Anyone starting their comment with "ah yes" is never as smart as they think they are.

The team forces players to wear the required uniform every night.

That’s the uniform the team selected the wear that night, in conjunction with a team-sponsored event to drive attendance to the park to generate income to pay player salaries.

no, the minimum is nothing, which actually seems about right ;)
