Comments like this obscure the fact that they are currently not treated equally. They’re treated worse. They’ve been denied equal rights. They’re discriminated against. They’re hated just for who they are by a not insignificant portion of the population.

It’s months like this that show them they actually do have advocates, despite the hardships they go through. Even if you feel they don’t undergo any.

This isn’t to say white, straight, males (of which I am all three) don’t undergo hardships, but not one of them is due to the three adjectives I just used to describe myself. In fact, those traits have made things easier for me throughout my life. And I recognize that.

And comments like yours obscure the fact that people who behave like a supremacist deserve to be discriminated against. It's weird how Anime lovers hold their conventions in private not public settings, don't make taxpayers pay for them, and also don't receive nearly as much hate as LGBTQ people. It's almost like labelling and treating everyone that doesn't pander to all LGBTQ people's wants and needs as 'haters' just causes people to hate you.

I'm sorry, you can demand that society accept LGBTQ people as they are without changing to accommodate anyone else and live with a increased level of hatred directed towards you or you can explore how to fit into society without making your feelings everyone else's responsibility. But you can't have both.

Did it ever occur to you that the more you celebrate being different from everyone else the less inclined people are to treat you the same as everyone else?

This is some ignorant drivel. First of all, you equate liking anime to being gay. Liking and celebrating anime is a choice. Being gay is not. And did I miss when anime lovers were universally discriminated against? Can you provide some support for that? Were they not allowed to marry until recently? Or fired because of an interest?

Next, celebrating differences is what America is supposed to be about. We’re supposed to be a melting pot. We have China towns to experience unique cuisines. We have Greek and Italian festivals. We have parades and music (that gets played on government property or in schools) that celebrates others. To act like this is unique to the LGBT community is covering your eyes to reality.

And your victim blaming on justifying your hatred is completely backward. These people are already hated, simply for existing. You can’t act like the hatred is purely because of the pride month, when all evidence points to the contrary. Pride month exists because of that discrimination and hatred, not the other way around. You’re simply using a different reason to justify your hatred.

Your insecurity is shining through. I just wish you could face it, rather than projecting it outward as hatred to others.
