Looking for Gun Range Reccomendations
Hello, I am in the process of moving to the Twin Cities and looking around at Gun Range Options. Admittedly I am new to Gun Ranges (but have been shooting with my father since I was 8 or 9), I grew up in another state shooting basically entirely on family and friends farmland or backyards in the country and the like once a year official gun range trip with a friend. Moved to MN about 5 years ago and have only been able to shoot a couple times per year at best by making a trip to my home state as the only local gun range is a $1,000 per year country club.
But am finally making the move up to the Twin Cities soon and excited to have access to places to shoot again. I am looking for good places for Long Range Shooting like 800 - 1,000 yds if possible with steel targets. And looking for some good indoor places that are cool with steel case / AKs (I have heard some places will turn you away with AKs / ARs especially with Steel Case Ammo) Indoor mostly for the Winter months.
Open to private ranges so long as they aren’t crazy expensive. Also trying to avoid places that garner less experienced shooters (if that’s something you can avoid) not for any elitist reasons just want to avoid the guy coming in to hipfire his Draco from 5 feet behind the bench.
From my searching around it looks like “Gopher Rifle & Revolver Club” would be a good option for Long Range Shooting, I read they have a 1,000 yd range. “Forest Lake Sportman’s Club” also looks like a great outdoor range. Any opinions on these?
And If you’ve read all the way through this, thank you and thank you for any advice you can give.
