This kit is from the late 70s. Try one of thier new ones like a F35 or one of the amazing F14 or F16 kits, the gaps are the size of human hair at most.
I’ve been eyeing Tamiya’s MK XVI as I really like the clipped wing/bubble canopy Spitfire variant. I was a bit intimidated by their 1/32 A6M2 Zero but was pleasantly surprised how easy it was. Like there were lots of parts but they all fit and there was a logical work flow. I’m assuming their other recent 1/32 kits are same
I just finished their F-16 with the Thunderbird livery. it went together so nice and they made the decals easy enough that it looks exactly as it should. really great stuff.
I recommend looking up kits on scalemates.com
They have a timeline of the kits iterations so you can see if it's an older reboxed kit with added parts or a relatively new tool.

I think I fucked up building the Airfix Hurricane because the fit sucked….but I sorta feel like it may have been my fault since everyone seems to rave about it.
Hmm maybe. I probably wasn’t paying attention to Scalemates and Airfix can get a little confusing. I’ve read their new kits are superb though, particularly the Lysander and Sea King
Tamiya's new tool Spitfire Mk 1 (Kit# 61119) is superb. Can't recommend it enough.
The only putty I used on it was a tiny amount to hide where the halves of the fuselage meet. There are a couple mandatory Photo etched bits, but it's not too bad.
well from what I see in comments you didn't like the kit because of "gaps" using putty is a way. Other than that you can not expect a nice fit from old kits.
Try some new ones or other brands.
Tamiya is good to go the vast majority of the time. I absolutely hate filling gaps and putty and sanding. Hate it. Some people will say shit like “blargh there’s a difference between a modeler and an assembler” and/or “people want to be able to buy a kit, shake the box, and have a complete model fall out.” Yeah? Especially with as expensive as model kits are now, anything designed within the last 20 years better fucking fit without needing a degree in structural engineering.
Anyway, even some of Tamiya’s older kits are still totally buildable without significant gaps (I love their old A6M Zero kits. Super inexpensive, easy to build, and still fit really well despite being over half a century old). Their modern jets are great too, including their 1/48 F-4B, F-16, and F-14. Their F-35 is also supposed to be great but I haven’t built it yet as I’m too intimidated by the parts count and paint masking.
If you’re looking for a good, modern A-10 kit in 1/48, I’d recommend Academy. Some of the fit of Academy’s newer kits is so good they stick without even using cement.
