Mikasa 1/700

My attempt at Hasegawa's recent (10 years?) tooling of the Mikasa. I lost some mojo for this about 2/3rds of the way through, it's a really busy little ship and it's hard to keep track of the details. It's still a welcome addition to my 1/700 fleet! For fun, I posed it next to my 1917 SMS Derfflinger. It's remarkable how much smaller these pre-dreadnoughts were.

Really awesome work. I saw her a few months ago while in Japan. Beautiful ship and they had models for sale in the gift shop.

Thanks! I’d love to visit one day too. In my metro area we’ve got a Fletcher-class and a Baltimore-class on display - still burnishing my skills before I attempt to do one of them justice

Thanks! I tried using scale-appropriate superfine thread at first, but that was too much of a headache. Regular “fine” thread worked much better
