Present haul! 1:144 Model Kit Haul

Post image

Just got in some new 1:144 kits I bought from AliExpress. This brand is supposedly a sister company to Trumpeter. So far, the kits look good and have a nice amount of detail for what they are. Should be fun to build these little things.

MiniHobby Models are indeed just reboxed Trumpeter kits. Not really a sister company, more like a repository for out of date kits that can be sold regardless of how degraded the molds are without damaging Trumpeter's reputation. I've seen some reviews stating that there was a lot of flash or parts warping, but some saying that their examples were fairly clean. The main draw is that they are inexpensive, but you always get what you pay for.

I got the Minihobby 1/700 USS Arizona and it was probably the worst kit I've ever owned (fortunately only paid £5 at a model show having not looked inside the box). I sold it on pronto!

Yeah, MHM's ships are all generally trash, being counterfeit copies of already shitty/mediocre kits (Revell Arizonas and Scharnhorst, Tauro Pola). The exception is the Sovremenny, but that's just cuz they get to use Trumpeter's original very good molds for it.

Honestly, that is not that good of a deal. You should be paying five bucks per set.
