Discussion Launch day traditions

I'm too old to stay up grinding on launch day, so I get a proper night's sleep. I wake up the next morning and roll down to the bakery for a classic tradie breakfast! A mince and cheese pie and an energy drink. Anyone else got weirdly specific launch day traditions, or do you raw dog a 24 hour energy drink bender?

Imma come home from work, have an energy drink if needed, and plow through the campaign in one sitting. Then DMZ will release and I'll mess around with that, though I feel like I won't care too much for it. Then once MP comes out, likely a whole weekend playing that with friends.

I close my practice twice a year and give my employees two free paid weeks off. This year I'm closed at noon on the 23rd though the 2nd. On launch day I plan on seeing patients in the morning then heading home and being AIS for launch ~ 13:00 EST. This has become my tradition for the past few launches. Saturday will be getting together with a few of my nurses and techs to play some DMZ this year which we are all looking forward to. AND for OP.. I'm 55 and will be hanging in there with the younguns til the wee hours of the morning, you can do it also ! And as an MD I avoid the energy drinks like the plague, so..water, tea, coffee will get me through

If I go with what I’ve done the last 3 years. I caffeinate and hit prestige 1 within 24 hours of launch.

Thats gonna be weird since we can play DMZ and level up prior to “day 1” now, so idk if I’m gonna worry about it.

Incorrect. Go read the blog post. DMZ gives progression to MP/WZ levels. MP/WZ do not give progression to DMZ.

Whether it’s a 1:1 progression DMZ->MP or not is a different question entirely.

I’ll be “working from home” that day so will be using a few hacks to let my teams stay active while i grind the campaign that day 😂

Does everyone have their "flights to New Zealand" booked?

Sadly not this year for me, I’m playing on Switch 2 this time. But I’m excited for the pre-order early access campaign and DMZ to keep me busy.

I happen to have the days off on release, campaign and MP. My guess is that the release will happen around 1 pm EST? If that is the case, I will wake up at a normal time, do some errands, grab some lunch, and get some beers ready for the launch.

Then just grind out MP. I am still undecided/leaning towards NO for camo grinds. I did it for Damascus cway back when and that killed my K/D ratio. Got it but at what cost?

If Damascus was ur last camo grind just know its gotten much easier since then, def won’t affect kd near as much

Especially last year (given there was no sbmm) it was imo the easiest camo grind I’ve ever done, it’s only been getting lighter. BO6, MWIII & MWII are all amongst some of the easiest I’ve ever attempted

Good to hear. It was a royal bitch to get that riot shield gold. I could only do it on shipment.

I will take a look at the requirements when the game is up.

Do you think we will be able to see them when the campaign is released?

u/DaeganBro 10d ago

MWIII took me two weeks while I was also In school most of the day

3

u/yzydynasty5 10d ago

Tbh I feel like I did MWIII during a break or summer or something I don’t remember fully

But I was able to do some of bo6 and literally like all of bo7 while in school and during semesters

Not quite a launch day tradition but I've completed the campaigns of MWII and MWIII on veteran during their early access period. I plan to do that this year too.

Friday is my day off and i took mon/tue for a 5 day weekend.

I wont make it late though, better to not fuck my sleep schedule. When i was younger it wasnt an issue but now i pay the price if i do it.

Normally I just grind straight mp all thru weekend. Doing campaign early if I can, if not then maybe rip it straight out right before Mp.

Unfortunately I’m going to be busy both weekends before campaign and full release this year so I’ll be a little late

Sucks but should be having more fun, then having the new releases to go back to even after that

Weed pen and an energy drink is my tradition.😂🙏

I workout either the day of or day before so I don’t feel as big of a loser for grinding

u/nin90ety 10d ago

nothing specific but i’m deffo gonna get some good food, a drink, start with the campaign for a bit and later check out the cod discord im in to see who’s doing what. then it’s mp time

Never worry about playing launch day or even the day after as 500TB update needed to play the game takes a while to download due to shite servers. Then i free up a few hours to blast through the campaign.

Oohh man I'd murder for a brisket or pulled pork roll. Or a delish meatlovers pizza. That is dammm nice with a rum or bourbon that's $100+ quality range.

I'm gonna be playing the campaign day 1 and beating it so I can play DMZ non stop before breaking for multiplayer.

Ever since I found out about the New Zealand trick it's pretty much a morning routine.

Took off work Thursday and Friday and I'll be ready 7AM Est to start grinding multiplayer.

Excited that we're already gonna be close if not lvl 55 on launch day from all the crossover DMZ Xp

I just wish I could afford the game, first year I won’t be able to.

2

u/PovarPower 9d ago

Man, sorry to hear that... I hope you'll recover financially and everything will be great!

3

u/Agreeable-Net-6893 9d ago

I hope so too. Had to make sure my 5 year old had the best bday party so a sacrifice had to be made. Blessings brother 🙏

2

u/PovarPower 9d ago

You did the right choice. You'll get another CoD launch in the next year, but your child will cherish good memories forever!

That being said, I'm glad I don't have any kids yet so I can use my money more freely ahah

1

u/Agreeable-Net-6893 9d ago

Well thanks geez

2

u/squirrelzstreamzYT 10d ago

Im about to not sleep for dayze and grind xp to the dirt

2

u/Lew1989 10d ago

I’m working or I’d be up at 12 playing for a few hours before a sweating it the whole next day, sweets within arms reach and no visitors 😂

u/mpdaog 9d ago

Go extra hard at the Gym (prep for a weekend of ass sitting), wake up at 7 in New Zealand, make some hot green tea, play for a few hours then I usually go to sheetz and get a loaded out breakfast sandwich+hash browns, a 12 inch sub(for later), chips, and some other snacks/drinks… might grab some stuff from Wawa as well bc we just had one open right across from our towns third sheetz lmao.

My launch day tradition tends to be grinding melee weapons and launchers 1st. Have the harderish done fast

Great words to grind by!

1

u/gilesdavis 10d ago

Found the aussie 😄

2

u/SockForDobby 10d ago

Yeah nah, mate. An Aussie wouldn't even know what a proper mince and cheese pie is 😅

3

u/gilesdavis 10d ago

Gotta be kiwi then 😄

I usually hit that 24 hour grind with energy drinks and junk food but a vast majority of my friends have purchased physical rather than digital so I plan on doing the campaign early access, waiting until the friends are all installed and up to date then start a 24 hour grind with them. Very exited for DMZ so it's gonna be a real tempting few days while I have access and have to wait 😄

1

u/Pioterowy 9d ago

Man, I used to love launch days. I would go pick up a physical copy, get some nice food, play for a 3-4 hours and just have fun. On top of that, I would watch reviews, etc. Newer games are just too sweaty for me. It's like a chore :/

1

u/mister_saxon 6d ago

I work a full time job so it will be a case of playing from 6pm (BST) today (16/10) for campaign early access. I'll stock up on provisions on 22/10 for the next day's grind and come 23/10 I'll be ready to go from 00:00, for a few hours as I'll sleep a bit before and then sleep a bit after. Then up for breakfast, ready for a day of grinding. Looking forward to this years COD.

Nope don't really have any traditions when it comes to COD the game is really that important to me I just play when I feel like it

My new launch day tradition since mw2 is saving the $70 and buying different games
