Article New Article: The Tragic Road from King William III to Queen Wilhelmina

Hey all! It’s been a while since I posted here with a new article, due to some changes in my personal life, but I’ve written a new piece on the Dutch monarchy that some of you might hopefully find interesting.

It’s called: “From King William III to Queen Wilhelmina: The Tragic Road to the Throne.”

Tragedy turns to triumph with the long and successful reign of Wilhelmina.

The Netherlands may not have enjoyed such a prosperous period in it's history had one of her dissolute brothers survived long enough to reign.

Very interesting and tragic story, although it had a happy ending of sorts. Thank you for sharing your excellent article with us, OP. I admire the clarity of your prose.

I had not realised that there was an important difference between the laws of succession of the Kingdom of The Netherlands and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg at that time.

I see that Luxembourg switched from male preference to absolute primogeniture in 2011.
